brutal tone
hey, i know this thread has probably been vistied a million times, but i need some suggestions, im aiming for a tight brutal death metal sound, (necrophagist, dying fetus, morbid angel, nile, cannibal corpse etc....) ive had my eyes ona shockwave for a while, but is there anything ive missed, ideally id like a 5150 or a marshall tsl2000, but im not rich enough:(, btw im playing an esp m-200 with an 81 in the bridge........ by budget is about £500 max, any ideas????

not sure how mych they are (especiall in pounds) but the crate blue voodoos seems to be a popular answer around here to start with and theyre pretty cheep too. cannibal uses them (well jack does/did pat uses mesas)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Crate-Blue-Vood...1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/CRATE-Blue-Vood...1QQcmdZViewItem then just get a standerd marshall cab or something |
If you can't afford a 5150, I'm not sure what you are gonna buy for less that is going to be real brutal.

Definately try a Crate BlueVoodoo that thing is a beast, and pretty cheap. I love its tone, its brutal. They run about 600$

anyoen have a clip of the blue voodoo??
ive found 1 before, but that was a modded one, and usualy the clips arent death metal but some blues or clean tone :( |

Unless your name is Rapture. Then, they cost around $75. Til the day i die, i will never stop bragging about that. |

crate shockwave. all the bands you mentioned, this amp will be able to accomdate decently. especially Cannibal Corpse and Dying Fetus. and Pat uses Blue voodoos now too. |

Oh i havent bought one, ive just played them, thats how much the tag price was. |
You'll need a pedal and a perhaps an eq to get real brutal with the 120 BV. After trying it, I can say that it's good, but not good enough just plugging straight in.

Peavey XXX.
|
XXX is awesome, but nothing compared to the shockwave :p
|
ahem...Don't be hatin' ;)
|
shockwave?
|

Yep, I would suggest a Blue Voodoo. They go for cheap in the UK - I got mine for around £230. |

Each one of those bands have completely different tone, apart from morbid/nile. |
Just to let you guys know.... Jack Owen used a crate BV 300 head for the Wrenched Spawn recording. That head is very expensive but you can get any sound you want out of it. If you go to musicians friend you will see that its like $ 1800 dollars. That head is brutal.

Could one get a Nile-like tone from this Blue Voodoo? You know, with that those really high treble frequencies in it? Listen to Unas Slayer Of The Gods. The palm mutes in the main riff are like: TSHHHST TSHHHST TSHHHST TSHHHST!
I also use the Digitech Death Metal fully mid-scooped and my lefty Schecter C7 comes next year... |
line 6 spider2. its solid state, but it sounds amazing. if someone told me it was a mesa, id belive em
