Idea for a new forum
 

I've been hanging around many other forums and I've realized what this one lacks that would make it so much better; a trade forum. Other websites have whole forums dedicated to people uploading demos/bootlegs to yousendit, megaupload and rapidshare. This would obviously be up to Alex, but I just want to see what all of the members think about this. Any input?

yea that could cause mt to get shut down, its very unlikely because MT doesnt get as much traffic as more popular sites but it could happen

well if its just bootleggs then its not really illegal because the bands/record label arnt losing money because they are not making any on it in the first place. as if its just music vids you can watch them free on tv or the bands websites alot of the times since that is most likely the only thing going up here (i cant see anyone uploading a bands dvd for instance) its kinda border line illegal

its still illegal to post links to bootlegs. some forums are VERY uptight about this, for example, youre not even allowed to say "pm me ive got the new album" on the scythes of bodom forums. i dont make the rules, but i wouldnt want nomad to get into any kind of legal trouble

Well Sam, I posted a question icon there because you stated that there would be no bootleg forum here. Last I checked, it is not up to you to make the decision. And don't get your tit in a ringer about Nomad getting in trouble, he will make the decisions on the issue. I'm not starting a new forum here, I am simply asking for opinions on the thought.

If it were only Demo's and Bootlegs it's a good idea. I don't care about copyright, whatever the fuck or shit on Demo's and Bootlegs, or getting caught or shit. But if it were full lengths, count me out. Bad Idea.

i said absolutely nothing provcative steve... i dont know why you think im trying to turn this into a flame war. and i know nomad will make the right choice and that its not mine to make. im just preparing everyone for the eventual letdown. in a perfect RIAA-less internet, id be the first in line for this kind of activity. i dont see anything wrong with it myself and i love bootlegs and free videos and all that.

Maybe we should have like an organized way to ftp, cause uploading copyrighted material to any public server for download will get MT and all the users busted. Private FTP's though are completely safe. MT just needs a way to submit the info for the servers, and maybe some icons for when the servers online, current number of users, maybe current wanted lists, etc. Just ideas here...

we have done an ftp 2 or 3 times before and everytime they floped and ended up messed up or we couldnt log into it

Hrmm...Maybe some tutorials on how to configure a well-known ftp server. Only thing I could think of to alleviate the mess up and login problems.
