hey i know i am not the only one that doesnt know that anwser to this, k, all the local bands near me all just know how to play tabs or not even that, they just strum guitars and make drums beats and sing and stuff, but like arent you saposed to know music theory like scales, appregios, and all taht stuff, like what does all that stuff mean? why learn it?

There is far too much that could be written in reply to that. If you learn some basic music theory and a scale or two, at the very least, you'll come to understand why music theory is so important in the creation of good music alone

Then there's the advantages of technical ability, improvisational skills, songwriting and arrangement technique etc... like I said, there's simply too much to type about

The first musicians were apes smashing bones on tree trunks.
Some musicians today aproach music as if its some rocket science.

Whatever works for you I guess, most people fall somewhere between those extremes...

Utimately,

those strumming chords, playing drum beats, and such is really theory whether they know it or not. So theory just speeds up the process of learning the instrument. It's like anything else, you learn the science of it, it makes interacting with it easier. You can visualize alot easier too. Those local bands might have a tough time finding the right sound, but knowing theory will help you find the next step.
