I think it was Pantera - Yesterday don't mean shit and Cowboys From Hell .
But at first I tried to play the smoke on the water riff. :)

The VERY first thing I learned to play was the "Barney Miller" sound track. I didn't even own a taperecorder, so I had to learn it by ear day after day as the show aired until I got it. Years later, someone pointed out to me that I had tuned my bass wrong, and it was actually played in "F", not "E", so I had to transpose the whole damn thing. Oh well...

The first actual song I learned was Exodus - A Lesson in Violence, off the Bonded by Blood LP (yeah, that's right, I said LP, I'm fucking old!!!)

I know I'm gonna sound like a chode, but Type-O Negative's Black No. 1. Hey, it's the only friggin' song I heard at the time where the bass really stuck out. :)

It was either Symphony Of Destruction or Seasons In The Abyss: i had transcriptions for both, and spent the whole night learning them.

played the old bass way back in year 8. first was "1, 2, skip to my lou" :p

first metal was "paranoid" i think.

I just own a friend that has a bass... but the first songs I learned on a bass were cowboys from hell and an Iron maiden song wich I don't remember the name of at the moment...
