Stickying band recommendations?

[sales-pitch]I have what I consider to be a great idea. How combining the most popular threads on a particular genre of music (recommendation threads) and stickying them at the top, and keeping them open.

This way everyone who wants a recommendation can look at the thread, and ask more specifically about a particular brand. It would also be useful for newbs wanting to know about different styles of metal, without starting new threads. [/sales-pitch]

So it would be like:

Sticky: Death/Jazz Fusion Bands
Sticky: Technical Death Bands
Sticky: Power Metal Bands

that would be alot of stickys, and theres alot already

Not in the bands section GD, there's only one. A basic list of what seems to be the most popular music here:

+Technical Death
+Thrash
+ Jazz/Death Fusion
+ Grindcore
+ Black Metal

Even with a few more added, it wont take up a lot of space, over up in Guitar there's 8!

I think it's a good idea in principle, but as soon as you split into subgenres some twat will be saying,

"You stupid penis eating cuntface, that ain't fuckin' technical death, thats pseudo-blast-death-gore-slam-grind. Hahaha you are such a worthless cunt. DIEDIEDIE!!!!. Ban him. RAAAAAHHHH"

ok maybe not to that extent, but you see my point. I have used the search function several times to get band recommendations, that really is all you need.

I doubt it would make things worse if they were only more general:

Thrash metal
Death metal
Black metal
Heavy metal
Progressive/power metal

that's all I would consider. That way, it could be categorized in whatever the last word is before the "metal" because of the adjective describing the metal. Like so:

blackened death metal is still death metal
Thrashy death metal is still death metal
....and Melodic metal is basically black metal
......

If you like the idea, go for it. I just completely forgot about the search function, so it's bit pointless now. :(
