Pretty cool little "egyptian" scale
I was messing around with a D lydian and came up with this scale as sort of a variation. It sounds pretty egyptian or middle eastern depending on how its used...(yes i know theres 2 C's right next to eachother on the scale [12-7] but if you play them in sort of a descending pattern it sounds pretty cool)
E)----------------------------------------------9-10------- B)-------------------------------------8-10-11------------- G)--------------------------7-8-10-11---------------------- D)-----------------8-11-12-------------------------------- A)--------8-10-12------------------------------------------ E)-10-12--------------------------------------------------- |

There's a thread already for stuff like this. |
Quote:
that thread specifically says Post riffs (of your own or from a band) that show different aspects of theory and how it's used, not just showing different scales. thus i'd be going against the rules of that thread to post a scale there...i didnt treat what i posted as a riff...its more of a scale :) |
ohhHoHoHo...well shit. You've just proved me wrong.
|
This should be in the scales thread in the guitar forum but because I'm a nice mod, I'll move it there for you.

i'm sure TruthDevoid messed around with a scale along those lines for his "waylon"Power Tab....(found in the "official post your songs/riffs" thread) |

B)-------------------------------------8-10-11------------- G)----------------------------10-11---------------------- D)-----------------8-11-12-------------------------------- A)--------8-9-12------------------------------------------ E)-10-12--------------------------------------------------- Variation of yours. This sounds more egyptian. Even cooler- E)------------------------------------------9-10-13------ B)-----------------------------------10-11------------- G)---------------------------10-11---------------------- D)-----------------8-11-12-------------------------------- A)--------8-9-12------------------------------------------ E)-6-9-10------------------------------------------------- |

Thanks cannibal...i combined your scales and mine and just sort of messed around and recorded it...this way people can get the jist of how they sound :) |
That's a neat scale but I am never going ot practice something I cannot incorporate into my sound. If only I had wrote that solo to powerslave.
