My Pimp EVH guitar
 

I bought a crappy starter strat on ebay about 3 years ago. It had pretty much been collecting dust for the past 2 1/2 years until I decided to do something with it.
The first thing I did was take out the bridge single coil pickup and put in a humbucker I had laying around. In that process I cut off most of the face plate (all but where the knobs are).
It was until I had a licensed floyd at my disposal that I started to do stuff to it some more. I took off the old bridge and started to drill some holes for the floyd to go into.
I put the bridge plate in there-

Then I set the floyd in-

After that, I went and got me some black and white electrical tape and started taping-

Pretty cool huh?
I set it up and... Fuck.. The action was so bad. Heres what I mean-
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v.../DSCF0006_1.jpg - Its a bit blurry, but that thing at the top, thats the string. The strings mustve been atleast 1 cm above the fret at the 12th fret.
I sent it to the guitar doctor and he shimmed the neck to fix the action. Now its playing just fine. :)

nope the neck was just fine. It just needed a shim in the neck pocket to angle it up because the bridge height had changed

aaahhh yes! peavey raptors rule.
i had a white one, which i learned everything on.
then i got pissed off, and being young and stupid, i thought i could change the colour with a marker pen, which i spent days doing.
then i just got black hands, so i spraypainted silver all over it (the only colour i could find), but that started rubbing off aswell.
it looked really shit by the end of all that.
so i lent it to a freind.
four years later i got it back(and that was a couple of years ago now), and they painted it white with gloss paint, only the black marker pen sort of mixed in, and its got a slight purple marble effect.

you did a much better job than i did.

still all in all by far the best guitar ive ever played for under £150

Haha, that really doesn't look that bad at all considering it's electrical tape :D

dude that looks good. i tried painting my strat and it turned out reall shitty. I lived with it until i got my ibanez.

Ian, did you do somting to the headstock? it looks different.

No he didnt, the "before" pic is of a fender strat, the "after" pic is of the actual midifed peavey raptor.

I thought it was the strat he modified? :confused:

yeah it was like that but s/s/s configuration. And the body is a little different.
