That was the short list. Obviously, different bands do different things for me. What I like about Warrel Dane as a lyricist has very little to do with what I like about Phil Anselmo or Dax Rigs or Scott Ian as a lyricist.

All the lyrics off Psycroptic's The Scepter Of The Ancients. Particularly a Planetary Discipline. I tripped out when I read that huge theory about cunts that live in the sun or something like that. Exhumed's Carnal Epitaph is another song that springs to mind. And Gorguts' Elusive Treasures (I think it's about Atlantis).

Oh fuck, I almost forgot. Demonaz's lyrics crack me up big time. What a champ.

Why isn' this in Poetry Lyrical? Also, Rime of the Ancient Mariner isn't written by Iron Maiden. Well the original anyway, it's by Coleridge, I believe.

Most of the song's lyrics are original. There are a few stanzas taken from the original poem ('Day after day, day after day' through 'but not a drop to drink' and the spoken section), which is by Coleridge, but for the most part it's an original parse by Steve Harris and can be credited as such. I prefer Dickinson as a lyricist, at least generally.
