Cracking my fingers make guitar harder?
Will cracking my fingers a lot make it harder for me to play electric guitar?
|
will smoking make breathing harder? in the long term, yes.
same answer here. ive cracked my fingers many many times a day for a couple of years now. i got into the habit of the movement and now i cant move them on a really really cold morning. bloody hard at school, first period during winter it is. stop while you can mate, before you get into the habit of it. |
Actually, accoridng to my Physiology teacher, cracking your knuckels/fingers/joints/neck/back whatever is just a release of gases and thats the sound you hear and it causes no damage what so ever. It is just an old myth...
|
^ I believe that also. Harmless.
|
My dad is a physiotherapist, and he took that course too. The gases are nitrogen bubbles entering the knuckle joint. But it isn't harmless. In the long term it can lead to osteoarthritis. Imagine when youre a whithered cranky old cunt, the viagra just kicked in, Mavis has fallen asleep waiting for you so there's no chance there, you go for a bat, but ironically, it's your hand that's letting you down, not your old fella. No thanks.
And if it had a detremental effect on my guitar playing, i'd give it up ASAP. Alcohol is exempt to this though. |
its mad how many things you hear on the same topic, i see what you mean by gases causing the 'clicks' in your joints but a friend of mine told me to stop cracking my fingers because i'd pay for it when i'm older, and it would affect my guitar playing. I don't know if it's true or not but i have stopped clciking my fingers and they feel more rigid and if i feel i need to crack em, i just stratch them out rather than go all out and crack them.
 |
cracking your knuckles is rough. why would anyone do that shit? my brother does it all the time.
|
Everytime I bend my pinkies they crack at the 2nd largest joint in the finger.
I hate it. |
I personally don't really believe in any of theories more than another. But I've stopped doing it, because it really didn't help me with anything (I mean, what's the point?), and *if* it will "come back to get me" when I'm older, it's not worth it.

I don't care, I plan on quitting guitar once it stops impressing chicks or until I'm to old (and I'm not talking need-a-Viagra-to-crank-out-a-wad-old, I'm talking about take-a-Viagra-and-a-have-an-anyeurism-while-I'm-trying-to-jerk-it-old) to fuck the chicks I might happen to impress. :D |
it sucks im in the cracking fingers habit, but like some of the other ppl said, itll pretty much only affect u in the long run. and it also depends on how often u do it too, by the time it starts affecting me, for sure itll be after im done playing neways.
|
i already have problems with my wrists, no need to further fuck up my guitar playing by cracking my fingers
|
I'm one of those odd people who can rarely crack his knuckles.....it's weird how every other person I know can crack thier knuckles anytime at will.
|
anyone ever cracked your toe or heal? thats wierd
but i have heard the "its just air thing" to from my bio teacher |
So there isn't really a problem until I'm older? Also, I can crack my toes (all but the pinky toe or whatever it's called). It's really annoying to get into the habit of cracking your toes. Whenever you stand on your toes, if they weren't recently cracked it feels weird. Whenever I bend my foot all the way up and hold it there, then bend it down (at the heel I mean), I can crack my heel.
So this is just a myth and it's really just gas and oldness? |
Whether it's just a myth has not been confirmed.
I'd say stop. Quite simply because it doesn't help you. You're not getting anything out of it, but it *may* harm you or your guitar playing, in a short or long term perspective. So why keep doing it? |
It is just gas bubbles. Absolutely 100%. not sure about the long term effects, could well be bullshit. You should stop doing it because it's annoying
|
Sometimes I must pop my knuckles or else I get a "charlie horse."
