thats a problem with a lot of people... its like a subtone. remember ravaging dragon made a thread about it? its really annoying, but im sorry i cant offer any help. check the screaming/growling type thread

I used to have that problem...It sounded all quiet and weak. I'm not sure what I did but my voice changed a lot. It doesn't anymore, it sounds thick and it's got enough volume. My only problem is lasting a long time...Just practice a bunch, that's what changed for me.

I'm not sure but my guess it is the condition of your throat. Try drinking/eating differently and see if it affects your voice. I heard drinking apple juice before you practice is good.

I kinda have the same problem. But it's gotten better with practice.

Although it takes a VERY long time as compared to guitar.

Dont drink anything cold, that tightens up ure vocal chords. drink something hot and thick. thats all i can say, ive been doing it for years, and i have an awesome grunt and scream, i can go as low as mortician, and as high as old dimmu. im trying to get up to some cradle, but its hard.

Cattlefan#1 2005-01-07 19:26

drinking soda helps man :D i know some people have also said that pudding doesnt, but it helps for me. i can growl like the singer of disgorge!! sometimes

Infinity 2005-01-07 21:37

Don't drink anything. If you cant fucking do vocals without something to eat or drink, then you suck.

Cattlefan#1 2005-01-08 02:43

hmmm.. It doesnt mean you suck. It just means you can do it better. I do fine without it, but soda and pudding seem to help. I dont need stuff to drink beforehand. But this guy asked for help and suggestions, so i gave him one.

Lord.Worm 2005-01-08 13:34

youŽll destroy your throat and your voice with a dry throat...

Cattlefan#1 2005-01-11 22:22

yupyup, very true.

Cattlefan#1 2005-01-11 22:24

but normally i growl on a dry throat, i'll change my ways though, but my throat doesnt hurt afterwards. hmmm..

DovenWolf 2005-03-16 13:56

i just get a sip of coke with ice between songs... xD i last for a LONG time but i can do it just as well without drinking anything

Silent Night 6 6 2005-03-17 01:03

Yeah, sucks when you try to growl and it's not really your voice that's coming out. it's just.....raspy air.

Honestly, whispering could just be your thing. Beherit whispers and it sounds amazing.
