Matt Barlow...(Iced Earth)
 

I'm wondering how he gets that sort of bite with his words. Take the song Dark Saga for example; after most his lines he does that "ya!" thingy. When I do it, it sounds like I'm just singing like Kai Hansan from Helloween all nice and melodic. Has anyone ever seen him live? Does he scream words out making his face red, or is he just singing normally? Should I try using that crunch you get with BM vocals? Or should I just keep at it? ....btw, no I'm not going to take up smoking..:rolleyes:

Well first off, you have to be Matt Barlow with a criminal justice degree. I'm guessing you're not him so I'm not gonna give you any more tips :p

Actually he was considering quitting Iced Earth. After Horror Show, he was going to hang around the band for another year or so and see how things went, but during the recording of the Glorious Burden, Jon Schaffer felt that Matt's soul was no longer in the music, so he fired him. Now Matt is working for the government or something.

I can sing and sound like Barlow. It's kinda easy, you just have to try your best to learn the sound of his voice. When mixing the sound of his voice with a high-lower octive It starts to sound like him.

Try on slower songs first like Melancholy, The Pierced Spirt, and parts of Dante's inferno and you should be able to learn his vocal style quicker.

I can just see Barlow arresting people or something, and instead of reading their rights, he sings "It doesn't matter what you say, in my words you are a sinner" as in Burning Times :rofl: .
