TO STOP NU-METAL TABS BEING UPLOADED...
 

....i think i have an idea.

i know nu metal tabs dont get put onto the tabs page anyway, but they are still insanely annoying, as much so as spam threads.

to stop this, nomad (or one of the other mods) could make a list of bands in which to not be posted, with the threat of being banned from the website if they do post a band.

this list could be detailed, or just the general KoЯn, SOAD etc etc etc.

but then i dont know how much clearer the mods can make "no nu-metal" any clearer. the reason for making this thread is i click on nu-metal tabs and i notice most of the munchkin madness people have 0 posts.

of course, everyone could just tell me to fuck off....

A list wouldn't be necessary, I think the mods have a firm grasp on the concept of "nu-metal". I don't think it can be made much clearer that they aren't accepted here, they don't get archived. The repeat offenders could be banned easily enough, though.

Yeah, good idea... I think I will work something out, this should at least reduce the amount of submitted numetal tabs.

Maybe something could be changed in the tab submission process? If we make a list, like what andrewc suggested - and you upload it to the server. Somehow make the form read from the text file on the server.. if the band submitted matches a keyword in the txt doc, it could render the tab invalid and not be posted? I dunno, it might be a little tricky to code. But by the looks of things, you have the knowledge. :P

Yep, that's what I'm going to do. The submission form will compare on the first step the entered band name against the black-list of numetal bands from the database. If the name matches, the system won't proceed to the next step but issue a warning message.

Mysongbook.com demands that any tab of an artist not allready in the database is not accepted until the artist is checked out by a mod. Do you do that here?

Thank the good Lord Satan! To say that all the nu-metal tabs cluttering up the tab posting forum is a little irksome is a major understatement. Thankfully, it seems that it will be a thing of the past in the near future.

I dont think it would help really, it would just ban people, but they would still get posted and we would (mostly the mods) have to deal with it.

Have the site automaticaly ban anyone who trys to enter a tab from the nu metal bands list and have a pop up that says: Fuck off you nu metal fag, you are not wanted here, go to some other site to post your little nu-metal band's tab.

I enjoy doing shit like that!

I like to make sure everything is in a neat order and shit, like my WMP, itys like an encyclopedia/dictionary thing.

But anyway yeah, seems like a good eye-dear to mear... uh, me.
