Morbid Angel's lead guitars on DOMINATION?
Can anyone tell me who plays what guitar solos and when on the Morbid Angel album DOMINATION?
Or better, is there a particular style that Trey and Erik have that is as easily recognizable as Murray & Smith? Thanks, and welcome me, I'm new to the Metal Tabs Forum. --Barry |
never mind him
welcome |
Meh, Trey does most of the solos anyways, and he uses Ibanez guitars, not 100% positive of the model but i think it is GRX? or something like that.
|
GRX is like almost GIO so i think NOT!!!!
|
Then would it be a Ibanez Universe 7 Seven String?
|
Are you fucking retarded? Of course Trey and Erik have a style that is highly recognizable listen to the record you idiot, if you can't tell than you don't listen to Morbid Angel enough, or Hate Eternal either. Erik plays only a few solo's and you can tell when it's him or Trey, especially on the 3 live cd's I have.
Trey has a few different guitars on is yes the Universe 7-string, he also has a gibson style flying V and a B.C. Rich Ironbird. |

I know Trey plays the solo in that. If I remember correctly, there are two solos in that song. If so, than Erik Rutan plays the second. Oh, and FYI numbnuts (not you, otherness), he used BC Rich's primarily back then. His IRONBIRD was used on Damnation. |

If that was derected at me, then you are dumb, he uses IBANEZ on that album, go download the video to "Where the slime live" and he plays the universe, and a white Ibanez. www.immortalvideos.com The clip is there... Numbnuts. |

No, I am not retarded, as you so eloquently put it (is this some kind of projection about yourself?). And I never said that I knew much about Morbid Angel. In fact, I'm quite new to them - I've only got ALTARS OF MADNESS and DOMINATION, and the latter I only just listened to this morning. Unfortunately for me, MA didn't put the solo credits in their lyrics like they have and should. But I appreciate your help, so I thank you. And as for calling me retarded, I'll be kind and suggest that you just have a few drinks and go drive somewhere. Thanks for the help, everybody. |

Well, then i must be mistaken, considering I read an interview where he said he used an Ironbird on that song. And that wasn't directed towards you neccessarily; I didn't even remember who said it. |
Trey plays most if not all the solo's
he plays Hamer, a BC Rich ironbird (looks like it might be an old nj) and He has two ibanez universe 7's |
Did some looking around in the MA cd's and I think he useing the ironbird (for recording) around gateways, or Entangaled, on Formulas he uses Washburn guitars (its in the booklet thing, says trey uses washburn's... bro owns it he told me that), Dom. uses the Ibanez, Cov.-Altars he uses the hammers, Ibanez, BC rich (on altars I THINK he uses a warlock), but the Ironbird was uses on the last 2 albums thats for sure, and maybe the live one "Entangled in chaos". He has had it for a while, but during the recordings he might have used the universe 7, or others just not the Ironbird unless playing live.
EDIT: @BLS: Do the old NJ's have bolt-on necks? Reason for asking hes has one, seen it on a pic. |
I think they do. I forget.
|
Yes, thats why i think is an NJ.
I have never seen an american made B.C. Rich with a bolt on neck. The dude from Cephalic also plays an old 80's NJ. The Formula's booklet says "Trey Azagthoth uses Marshall, Fender, Eventide, Pro Co, Morley, MXR, Boss, Eashburn, ART, Hamer, Dimarzio, Seymour Duncan, A'Angelico" dosent say he uses Washburn guitars.. he can be using anything made by washburn. I remember seeing a pic of treys guitars a year back, he had two ibanez universe 7's, his Ironbird, and a Hamer V, it also had a clear view of his rack... i cant find the pic anymore :bawling: it was on his Quake 3 clan forum George Emmanuel!! |

I dont own formula's, my bro does, he lives in alberta, and he told me over the phone, so ill give him hell next time i talk to him. |
You do that :D
|
Ive seen some USA BC's with bolt ons, lots of em....
|
I listen to a lot of Morbid Angel as they are one of my favourite bands (as well as Hate Eternal) and here is what I have gathered from the 2 styles. Trey does a lot of tapping, whammy bar dives, and uses his wah a lot. Most of his solos sound very abstract and chaotic. Eric's style is more melodic and uses less effects and tapping.

Thank you very much, Zereberus. In such a short time period, I've come to appreciate music a lot more, and I notice technicality in music a lot more. It shall be easy to figure out the solos on _Domination_ now, as well as on any other Morbid Angel release.
Ah, if only it were this simple with Dark Tranquillity, however... Thanks everybody. You've been most helpful. |
oh bose, how i miss you
anyways ive figured out how to do some of that spacey stuff trey does. make like youre tapping, but do it over the pickups. and either play or slide your left hand up and down the neckboard.... do it with delay |
