Arckanum - Hottest one in sweden right now and for some time now.. The music where really primitive for the first 2 CDs, now its getting more melodical. Lyrics in "gammelsvenska" (Swedish, old style, vikingish or something...) - I can't understand it that good, even if I'm a swede.

Blodsrit - "Sweden goes Darkthrone"... Primitive oldschool, Darkthroneinspired though they've got a better soundquality. I really recommend the video on their homesite @

Blot Mine - the next Dissection. Dissection may be a hybrid out of black and death, but this is the pure blackversion of them! Better drummer live than Dissection - thats for sure. Two of their songs are completely in some odd language, and both of them kicks ass!

Forest Of Shadows - Allrighty then... They may be playing some kind of Doom, but what the heck... ;) Perfect autumnmusic. They should have released their first album for like 1 year ago, but whatever... their MCDs kicks ass! check 'em out at:

Shadowbuilder - From Gothenburg but not one of them Gothenburg-stylish deathbands like In Flames or Dark Tranquillity - watch out for "Silver & Black"... Man, that song gives me the creaps. The vocalist is great!

Imperious - An american drummer and two sicko's from svealands fastest deathgituarists makes Imperious. Nile-influated! Just released their debutealbum and are working on another one right now. Unbeleavable tight musicians live! The drummer Chris plays in the same league as Derek Roddy for sure!

I like Evergrey, but alot of Swedish stuff can get repetitive.

The following bands are alright in small doses:
In Flames (Whoracle)
Soilwork (Fuck you, they're catchy)
Entombed (I still like Wolverine Blues)

And altough they're not really underground anymore, I really dig Opeth and Meshuggah.

I used to love Evergrey, but as you said: they get repetative.

In Flames är really fun to play, but not to listen to. until Clayman...
Soilwork är kind of sucky... =)
Entombed however have a cool style. Owner of 6 albums!

Well, what can you say about Sweden more than we are the best in the
world in creating successful metalbands. :) Black is big in Scandinavia but not
so big in Europe and the US, and we are most famous for our Gothenburg
Death Metal as In Flames, Dark Tranquillity and Soilwork maybe...

Yeah, very underground? That's not definetly ug band afterall. Same as you say Vlad Tepes is underground in french black metal scene. Arckanum is great TROLLBLACKMETAL. Their records are bit hard to find, but if you do. They rocks very much. Fran Marder is BEST.
