hey everyone!
I need some help with my bass technique!
anyone have any suggestions on bass finger exercises for speed and co-ordination?(in the case of using 3 fingers or more)
also I'm putting together a prog/neo-classical metal project called Lost Meridian in the vein of Dream Theater/Opeth/Symphony X/Adagio. So keep a look out for us! hehe

Well just simple.
there's basically 2 exercices.
- on the first one you go index-middle-ring
always in that order. it's good for giving that special triplets feel.
build your speed slowly and work the coordination of your fingers.
Next you can start with the middle
and it goes like middle-ring-index-middle-ring-index....
or start with the ring.
Once all is done work the previous reversed.
(like ring-middle-index).
just try all the possible combinations.
- For straight speed it's easier to go index-middle-ring-middle-index-middle....
As for 4 fingers it's basically the same but since your pinky is shorter it's easier to play with your hand on the bottom of the neck.
Well hope it'll help a bit.

Do you mean top of the neck? I pick with four fingers and I usually keep my thumb on the top of the pickup, or somewhere around there.

I'm confused. Do you mean the picking hand?
The bottom, geometrically speaking.
The top, numerically speaking.
Get it? In the area where the high fret numbers are, which (due to holding the neck at an angle) is lower (closer to the ground) than the nut.
