View Full Version : plektrums
in germany we call it plektrum.....i think here you call it just "pick"
What sort of pleks do you use for playing your guitar? The big fender picks (i hate them) or thin picks.
My favorits are (dont laugh) dunlop orange and red (0,60mm). With other pleks i can'T play a clean sound. I need it a little bit flexibel.
Did you use different ones to get different sounds?
Tell me something about your favorites......plz
i use Dunlop Gator Grip 1.5 mm. i need something thick to play with

i like em thick and hard, i most offten use my Dunlop Big stubby, or else just a hard one.
dunlop is a good make!
I use the Dunlop 2.0 (small) stubby. You lose a bit of dynamics with it but once you get the hang of it your picking speed increases a lot.

is that what you call your dildo?
i use the same one as you ericgtr, is yours blue?
uuuuhhh, more than 1.00 mm thick feels to me like a coin between my fingers. A speedy playing is not that, what i can do with that. The most musicians i know are playing with thick and hard pleks. I can't play a clean guitar with that. Did it affect a special sound or why are using this "coins"....???
@mrweijia....
nice compare with a thick rubber thing....:D
for bass I use the ibanez large triangles, for guitar mostly dunlop tortex things, pretty thick one's, I can't do a descent shred with those thin picks.
Hmm, i have imported picks from a american company called Eagle. The picks are called Brain Picks. They have loads of dots where you hold your thumb and pointing finger. So you wont loose grip. The thickness is 0.72 mm. But I'm going to buy their 0.88 when i get money to buy a Leather strap (i think strap is the right word).

Yes, and sometimes I will use the 1.0 (clear) because you can get a little more flexibility out of it but I always find myself having to sharpen it on the carpet after an hour's worth of woodshedding.

you could try adjusting the angle that you hold the pick.

I know exactly what you mean, when you first try a stubby it's very awkward and feels clumbsy in your fingers. It's this way for everyone at first, you must work with it for a little while before you get the feel of it. Trust me, if you spent a few hours with it you will see that it will increase you picking speed a lot.
