Its called Soilwork...Devin Townsend isn't even doing it as one of his side projects, its under SYL!!!!!! I can't fuckin' wait!!!!!

If they're really calling an album "Soilwork" I think that's spectacularly lacking in originality!!!

The album title is "SYL" and I got a hold of a promo copy a little while ago. I'm diggin it so far, haven't listened to much of it yet though.

I saw them live, i was expecting them to be awesome, but they wernt. I was really dissapointed with them. Everyone gives them such hype, and they didn't live up to it. But he has a good voice, but his songs got sorta annoying.

They don't strike me as being a "live" band anyway, just some sort of cool studio mutation with a great drummer and a whacked out frontman. Anyway, I can't listen to SYL for lengthy periods of time but this new record is kicking ass. It's a bit soon, but from what I've heard now it pushes a bit harder than City did.

I really wasnt impressed by gene either, even though he is my favorite drummer, either the DB was to loud or to soft, i oculd only hear the annoying riffs.

sanderinos, how do you manage to chime with the least informative, dumbcunt responses like that? I'm impressed.

I've listened to it a few times now, and I'm definately liking it more than City, and City was awesome.

I have two SYL mp3s. They seem ok, but there is a lot of distortion and crap that sorta overlaps the general song.

They rule. I saw them live last year and they kicked ass. It's industrial meets thrash.Don't expect Children of Bodom or Maiden guitars here.Besides who needs those guitars when you got Gene "MEAN" Hoglan on drums?

Exactly.

You heard any of the new stuff, Disciple?

I just picked up myself a copy of their newy, and by fuck i reckon its awesome

a true musical onslaught the likes that only devin can produce.

its exceeded my expectations and im really diggin the more 'natural' feel of the sound, doesnt feel quite as processed as City. dont get me wrong, City is one of my all time favourite CDs, this new one is just so..so..fuck i dunno..awesome :)

i've got the new CD on my hard drive, and i do admit, sometimes it is way over-ridden with stuff sometimes, but devin's a studio man, thats known. But, its good.

new SYL is alright, actually it sounds exceptionally unimaginative, compared to previous hevy devy projects.

still, it does hit hard.

I saw SYL live in Norfolk the other day....they weren't bad, definitely pretty fast but I wasn't really sure what to expect. Never heard them before. Dark Tranquility blew them away though.
