no need for one i found that if i play my guitar like a bass (using my four fingers) i can tremlo triple the speed and i find intracit picking is much much easyer. i dont know just thought i would post this *shrugs*

actually, you can cut your hands open if you play hard enough and fast enough: there's a reason flemenco players use nylon strings.

I just want to know how the fuck you triple your trem "picking" speed. Either you've got the slowest trem pick in the world, or...

Well, dai saunders, I suppose for chords and such he can use his nails and/or possibly the thumb. Like tattered said, he'll soon form callous on his fingers so he can still play chords "heavy". Yeah, um... okay.

At least one of the guitarists in Kovenant plays without pick on his 7'string guitar, but they don't ave solos though...

Not that theres anything wrong with not using a pick, but one main reason aside from speed that metal player use pick is for a strong attack, especially when palm muting. Its a cool idea though, I guess you definately will have a style and tone of your own when playing metal.

Well yeah, as i play bass i have huge calices on my finger tips, and i play the odd acoustic, but i have a shitty son of an acoustic, fucking £15 cunt, anyway yeah i can still play on standard acoustic's without hurting my fingers like on the high strings, cos ive got like Plastic tips, so if you have a bass, or whatever, if your bassist lets u have a go on his during your band practice do so, and play with the old 2 finger styley, and you will form calices *click* like that. Hehehe

i can't see the advantage about playing electric guitar without a pick apart from
as warnerve said it gives you a different style and tone

it's like playing bass with only 1 or 2 fingers
