Oh and our gig is advertised in the kerrang!!
what's kerrang? sounds like a brandname for factory made bongs?
wow, 400 people for your first gig is a lot, we had like 80-100 or something, be sure not to fuck up! your first gig will stay in your mind and a lot of poeple are going to refer to it in the future, I'm happy our first gig was cool, hehe :) I still remember parts of it, covering Killing In The Name, 7 Words and 5 minutes alone :)

I have been playing bass for about 4 years now, self taught.
Been gigging for about a year now with my band Inferis and if you want some good exercises for bass check out www.activebass.com that has absolutely everything on there, including every bass scale and mode.

Ok, sorry Ive been away for a way guys, times were hard but exams are done now :)
I usually do this exercise to warm but I used to do it all the time and it can build up good strength and co-ordination. Play the chromatic scale, every note in the first position. To cut a long story short and to spare you theory: On the E string, you play open, 1st, 2nd, 3rd THEN 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, THEN 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and OPEN A THEN 3rd, 4th, open A, 1st (On A) That may sound complicated but its very simple to understand yet annoyingly hard to play fast when you first start out. So you play 4 notes each time. Start on E (which is just open E) and then play the three semitones that follow it. Then change root to the next note, F and play the three semitones following that. You continue until your last 4 notes are the first 4 frets on G string. If you didnt understand that last bit then ignore it and re-read the first bit :) Remember, you never go above the 4th fret on any string, you move on to the open of the next string, thats what makes it tricky.
Keep practicising that and you will build good strength and co-ordination.

I've been playing for 2 years and at one point I quit school to play bass so I don't think I'm that bad. I took bass lessons for a year and a half and quit because I wasn't really learning anything new.

i started playing bass guitar back in elementary school, then i started
to play the contrabasse, and the bass guitar kinda went into the
shadows off and on, i rarely ever play it now, but that doesn't mean i
can't...
so i guess i've been playing "bass" for 7-10 years.

I've been bass guitar for five years and String bass for a year. I played String bass in my Jazz Ensemble class. It was pretty sweet. I really want one of my own but yeah.

Me it's almost 2 years, and I wish I had the time to take lessons. I really wonder what I could learn, or if I've develloped any bad habbits. I guess I'm the opposite, I plan to finish school.
:D .... 4 weeks and it'll be one year

Hmm, I have only played for about 2 months still a beginner but I am determined to learn many more things so far I got down, Rage- Calm like a bomb, Metallica- Devils Den, Slayer- Bloodline, and Slayer- Devience of Christ... spelt that wrong haha, anyways I have a small easy beginner bass from Rogue, the SX100B its not as bad as it may look, sounds very "punkish" compared to other basses. My first gig believe it or not is on Valentines Day, my bands bass lines are as easy as eating cake.

... my bands bass lines are as easy as eating cake. They must be difficult then. All that icing and those large impractical pieces.
Anyways I'm at two years now. It's been quite the ride so far. I think I'm finally going to take lessons. I'm really looking forward to it, but they're damned expensive.
