View Full Version : Medolic Metal Anyone??
Does anyone like good straight swedish/foreign medolic metal? Such as In Flames, Hypocrisy, Children Of Bodom, Dark Funeral, Amon Amarth, Immortal, and legendary Cradle Of Filth. I think this lead kicks major ass, just wondering if anyone on the forums plays a style like this. And just wondering to others who don't play this lead, what type of lead do u like? I'm trying to play a diverse mix of different types of leads/solos. Just i wanna hear what others have to say.

I think you mean "melodic," not "medolic", right? I dig In Flames, haven't really listened to anything from those others you mentioned.
Well all the people i know who play it call it that and spell it like that so i don't know, all i know is it rules ass!
I'm positive it's spelled "Melodic". It's from the word "melody".
A good melodic metal band i just recently discovered is called "Enter my Silence". They're pretty cool, and from Finland!
Maybe me and all my friends are just pure stupid then, but not when it comes to playing it! Everyone knows Children Of Bodom are the known band from Finland so don't even compare them!
By the way, what types of "melodic" music do these metals bands get their styles and roots from?
I just said the Finland part cause you wanted Foreign bands. I've never listened to Children of Bodom and i wasn't hinting at any sort of comparison between the 2 bands.
I don't know where they get their influences or anything, they're a new band and they're only starting to get recognized. Go check in the BANDS forum for one of my threads about them, more info there.......i don't feel like re-writing it.

IN FLAMES!!!!!! WWWWWWWOOOOOOO0000000!!!!!!!!
CRADLE!!!!!!!!
yeah black metal & meLoDic metal rule
I listen to Melodic black metal. I have bought the 3 CDs children of bodom have released and I think they are the most tallented band to have ever gotten together. Have you listened to emperor?
Yes Emperor is insane too with their own style, but yet i don't reckon they even compare to Children of Bodom and In Flames. They have nice style though and certainly a awesome band.

Sounds like you're in the right place, auld son.
I would hardly call Amon Amarth melodic (it IS melodic by the way) but that doesn't stop it being a lot of fun..... I BLEED FOR ANCIENT GODS AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
(fuck kangaroos)
Cradle of Filth are British. Like the only black metal band that is.

Hecate Enthroned is another blackmetal band from the UK.
How can you bring yourself to say that emperor doesnt compare to in flames?!
emperor anally violates in flames...in flames is bad ass but....come on
arch enemy and soilwork are awesome melodic bands also.
I'm not the biggest emperor fan for some reason, mainly because i have never seen em live. I only have one CD, IX equilibrium, is that there best or is there more i'm missing something?
Hecate Entroned is fucking awesome though!!! Them and Old Man's Child are some badass bands. Along with Arch Enemy and Soilwork. I was just nearly posting my opinion i'm sure many don't agree with me, but i was just seeing what others had to say about the whole deal.
Anyone know of any other melodic bands that havn't already been posted on the this thread?
You should check out both In the Nightside Eclipse and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk... They're way better than IX Equilibrium :D

I'm sure I do. Give us a while to think. My brain works slow. Soilwork rules God's green earth.

Don't forget about Hypocrisy. While not all of thier songs are melodic many of them are.
Emperor's new CD. Prometheus, is pretty amazing. I recently heard a couple of tracks off it, and i must say this is really different emperor. I think its a lot better than IX Equilibrium. So Yea Father Death, is compares to be a badass cd, u lucky fucker, i want it! I only heard 2 tracks, both very heavy and bassy metal riffs with high melodic leads. Exactly what i'm looking for! Does anyone know if they dropped tuning lower if u have heard any of emperor's new stuff? Because its pretty fucking heavy from older albums.
Yea the new Emperor reminds me a lot of Hypocrisy since they use 7 strings, espically Hypocrisy's CD 'Into The Abyss'.

hmm..perhaps i should look into Hypocrisy then...
I might have missed the point, but did Emperor come out with a new CD besides IX Equilibruim? I have that and Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk. I like Anthems a lots better...
