This test shows twenty clips of people smiling. Some are real (reactions to statements or pictures) and some are just commanded smiles.

My score was 17/20. Let's all see what an average Metalhead's score turns out to be. I know at least one person will get them all, and it'll probably be one of the girls.

i liked the explaination on how one can detect fake smiles, i was judging moreso on the moment after the person smiles, when the face goes back to normal.

i just thought the people who totally dropped the expression of thier face back to a blank expression were fake..............i feel that.......real smiles kinda linger on

My friend mentioned this test to me, and my first thought was that it sounded real! Odd to come across real "tests" online.

Well it seems like most people here can see emotions pretty well judging by someone's face. The next version will involve the same process except with corpse paint on each model. :p And btw the final question of "how could you tell blah blah" I'm guessing most were like me and Arsis saying it was in the eyes?

the eyes do help a lot, but, in some of these clips, the people even seemed to laugh a little, and that helped. and then, some of them even had some hints of happiness, after they cut off their smiling.

How the fuck do you get somebody to smile genuinely one command from nothing, then come down to nothing? This test makes me skeptical like a pregnant woman on a lesbian planet. My thought exactly, what I'm not feeling told about is WHAT a genuine smile is - do they pull out someone to say "I love you" or what?

aha, but havnt you ever seen something along the lines of two friends joking around, where one says something and smiles, the other smiles, briefly, but cuts back to a serious face, as a joking way of saying "thats not funny", although they both know it is. i hope i portrayed that correctly. anyway, ive done it, as well as a few of my friends. although, soon after go back to smiling/laughing at the whole thing, something of which, purposely, wouldnt be shown in the clips.

the "real smilers" should go back to the place and say "I FUCKING FAKED IT". haha.

I have seen that, td. However, every time I've seen it, there hasn't been a video camera there at all, and nobody stared directly into it while smiling (since it wasn't there). I don't have doubts that people can spontaneously smile and let it fade. I have doubts that they can do it genuinely on command. I also have doubts about anything people do in front of a camera.
