They just aren't grindcore anymore. This track is waaaay too long and far to metal. Still halfway decent.
I expect they'll have a bunch of short, grindy tracks on the album as well. It's not like their last album didn't have (comparatively) long, riff-oriented songs thrown in with 45-second screamers. I might be wrong, but I seriously doubt that this is indicative.
Anyway, it's pretty good. They've done better, and hopefully will have done better on the rest of the album, but it's pretty good.

It's pretty good. Like PST said, I'm sure it's not very representative of the new album, as "Gravedancer" wasn't overly representative of Terrifyer.
However, it should be noted that the new record only has 14 songs, so longer songs overall might be something to expct.

If the album is longer than 30-35 minutes, yes.
I am at work, and listening to Pig Destroyer at work is not really the done thing. Damn it.

Thats what you get for working!
"Scott is quick to point out that there is no sacrifice in terms of speed of the band's grind, but that different circumstances in the writing and recording of the album led to a shorter track list. '14 tracks just happens to be the numner we hit when we arrived at 30 minutes" Hull explains, "In general, all the songs seem faster. The difference is that instead of writing the tracks together as a band in practice; I programmed drums and wrote everything inmy studio, then brought all the tracks to the band to learn. It was a fast process this time around. I guess, as a result, the songs tend to be a little longer, a little more invovled, though Phantom Limb doesn't really sound like a big depature for us. I mean, the musicianship is better, as is the production, but if anything we've sped up." - Interview with Scott in the newest Resound mag.
The vocals are less harsh on this track which is probably the only thing I'm iffy on, but I'm sure the album will great.
Oh yeah, they're not a 3 piece anymore. They added a 4th member who will be doing keys/samples and stuff. I don't think he really did much on the new album though. I can't wait to hear the rest of it, and Relapse is going to send me the promo!

"Scott is quick to point out that there is no sacrifice in terms of speed of the band's grind ... "In general, all the songs seem faster.
Well if that's the case, they didn't release a track reflective of the album. We'll have to wait and see.
I love the song. Can't wait for the whole album.

Just noticed they have a gig at a Unitarian Church on the 14th of June.
I mean, I know they're Unitarians, but still....
Haha, damn. Grindin' in the name o' the lord.
Whole album's leaked. Several 1-minute songs.
Shhiiiitt, did it? I don't know if I can hold out. Did you get your hands on it? How is it?

Well since it leaked, I had to check it out.
It's on par with Terrifyer, so it's only decent...nothing special.
