So Ive been getting into trance music for the past 6 months and was hoping to find some good bands. So far Ive been listening to some Paul OakenFold (this is trance) Infected Mushroom, Hallucinogen and some DJ Adolf.

Can't get into it. I've had numerous friends try to get me into it and it just won't happen. The tripping thing doesn't work either, I'd still rather listen to death metal. Nothing wrong with it, just not for me.

Aphex Twin! Most mind-twisting and creative electronica.

Squarepusher is cool, too.

Astral Projection! Hell of a band/artist.

I really like Massive Attack and Lamb, although they really qualify more as trip-hop/electronic. Nice rhythms and awesome female singing, some of the most relaxing stuff I listen to.

If you want straight up trance, get DJ Doboy's stuff, he publishes all his shit free on his site I think, huge 1 hour songs that flow really nicely for the most part. DJ Dandelion is alright too.

And DJ Shadow's "Endtroducing" is simply the greatest completely sampled album ever recorded, not really trance though.

Are there any good bands out there that have a good mix of Metal and Trance? It would be interesting to hear a Melodic DM band that uses a synth and some crazy samples. I just listened to Daath's song Dead On The Dance Floor, really catchy, but not enough trance haha.

Well, I love hardstyle, hard-trance and some electro, but i'm not gonna waste any time naming "bands" (artists/acts you mean) as you're obviously not going to check them out.

Scorn, Mick Harris's post-Napalm Death project, is some of the best electronica/dub I have ever heard.
Check out "Evanesence" or "Gyral" by Scorn to get seriously tripped out.
The closest band I can think of that comes to trance metal is Loop.

There's a Czech band called Contrastic who, although not really combining trance elements, does do an excellent job of throwing techno and DnB into their stuff. I can't recommend much by them, as I've only heard their split "Czech Assault", but everything on that is pretty cool.

Aphex Twin is all anyone needs, unless you like that fucking awful "speedcore" nonsense.
