on the pantera album cowboys from hell number four heresy the intro firr has a kinda metallic type sound to it someone told me he is not fretting it exactly on the frets but almost on them is this true?

yo dude. exactly. it's called harmonics. place your finger over the fret, touching the string but not the fretboard. the song your talking about starts with a 5th fret harmonic on the low E string. hope this helped.

oh well i do know what harmonis are but they just did no tsound like them to me hmm well thanks for the info any way

is that kinda like a finger mute? it doesnt sound like a metallic sound it sounds more like a palm mute but its on 1 string....am i doing it wrong??

i cant get the harmonic on the second fret were should i place my finge more twords the middle?

metallic sound huh, try picking more towards the bridge, where the strings are tighter. i dont know if it'll work on an electric, but on acoustic, the sound becomes mroe metallic/twangy

it's just a harmonic.. it doesn't matter where you pick or where your finger is in the fret.. almost every fret has a harmonic to some extent. just remember dimebag's using a different setup than you so it's going to sound different.

U must find the exactly place to put your finger over the string in 2a fret, the armonic is near the aehm... iron... not over

and if u have any problem, try to pick the string with more strengh, when u understand the exactly way to do it, begin to pick the string with less strengh
