DONT USE SPRAY PAINT... TRUST ME I DID IT ONCE... IF ONLY FOR A SECOND YOU DONT PUSH ENOUGH ON THE CAN IT SPIT PAINT SPOT ITS REALLY HARD TO PAINT A GUITAR WITH THIS... OR MAYBE IT WAS JUST A CHEAP CAN... I GOT PISSED AND I BROUGHT IT TO A PAINT SHOP THEY MAKE ME CHOOSE MY COLOR (RED ACURA JUST LIKE AN INTEGRA) IT COST ME 150$ BUT ITS REALLY WORTH IT. IT SHINE LIKE A CAR AND IT WILL LAST FOR A LONG TIME.
SPRAY PAINT USE TO GET OFF IF YOU DIDNT PUT A PRIMER BEFORE AND A CLEAR AFTER.

If you're just screwing around, Id suggest acrylics.Probably easy to wash/rub off. But if you're going to get more into it then use oil paints. May I suggest get an airbrush. Those are the best, you get no ugly 'paint brush strokes' and you can do so much more - atleast make it look better, and take one or two lessons so you don't get frustrated/confused when using an airbrush. Good luck.

you got spits of paint because you had your finger too far forward over the spray can trigger
I've painted loads of guitars / pedals with spray cans before and they turn out great, I've even done a tutorial on my site for it:

hope that is of some use :)

Fuck...this thread is from 2001!!!! WTF? Dudes prob dead by now :P
Maybe mods should close threads after their "X (days, months, YEARS!!) old" ? A forum I used to help mod had a php script that would automatically do em. Just tryin to help out...
no, because bumping old threads can be a great thing..
but then idiots come and wreck it.

I painted my first guitar (an ibanez rg-350 Dx I believe....its been a while) Anyway, it came out looking pretty good. The pain I used was grill paint actually. I was looking for something black, but all they had was flat black and stuff....and this grill paint added somewhat of a gritty texture to the guitar, yet smooth at the same time.
All I did was sanded the original paint off, went over it with some steel wool, hung it up and sprayed it. I put about 6-8 coats on it and let it sit for a while....tunred out looking pretty cool...wish I had a pic, but that guitar is back home.
ok, this is not excaxly about painting my guitar, more of putting stickers on maybe?
picture number 1, this is what my guitar looks like,
picture number 2, this is what I think would be cool if my guitar looked like
do you think I could put some white stickers on it and it will look like that? If I cut the stickers so they'de be like that of course.
Is there any other way to make these stripes besides stickers?
I know I could maybe spray it one but that would be so much trouble, if I'd spray it on I'd have to repaint the whole guitar right?
thanks :)
