Dudes, I need help with right hand power. Ive lost everything that I once had in it.
can you guys give me some excercises and stuff to make it better. I heard the morbid angel dude did a lot of excercises and made his right hand insane.

just try to do really fast palm mutes on the strings....... really fast. that'll get your speed up. the trick is to coordinate both your hands into perfect timing together, so you may want to add in your left hand into the exercise becuase your right hand can be as fast as dimebag's and your music will still sound like shit because your left hand isn't fretting the note at the same time you pluck it.
have fun

I've heard of these mini weights you can put around each finger in order the strengthen them while playing. It'll most likely slow you down when you're wearing them, but once you've practiced enough with them and return to your normal speed WHILE wearing them.....when you take them off you should be even faster without any difficulty.

Try doing some wrist exercises too. I'm not a fitness expert, but just try to find something off the net or in a book about wrist and arm exercises....this will help you play faster and more accurate.

I used to play really damn slow.. I still kinda finger the fret board slow.. but i'm getting better.. But anyways.. what really made me play faster I think was practicing gallops.. once I got them down I just kept trying to go faster and faster..and before I knew it I could hammer away.. Kinda weird.. that helped me anyways..

That seems to be the ONLY advice you can give.

you want to be very careful with those though, and use them in moderation. there have been cases of tendonitis and shat from overusing that shate.

masturbation is actually a good warm-up, and may indirectly help you become faster, but by itself it's not gonna help you much.

best thing to do is keep your wrist loose and relax. don't tense up your wrist muscles, that'll slow you down.

check out the book Rock Discipline by John Petrucci (the guitarist from dream theater and liquid tension experiment). the exercises in there are extremely helpful.

You need to use a metranome, trust me. Set it at like 200 (100 if you cant that fast) and do a click a note, then swtich to 1 click for 2 notes, then 3 notes per click, and then you will get brutal and get to 4 notes per click. Trust me, start of slow, you need to learn accuracy. Like slayer, there good and fast, but live there a bit messy. The guy from children of bodom is extreamly accurate and fast, like on black widow, that last little run is awesome. Metranome!! there like 20 bucks trust me there technicallity in a box.

actualy, SOME deicide songs are good for quick changes and riffs choc-o-block with mute/chord/mute/chord/mute/diddly bit/mute/chord etc. i THINK When Satan Rules His World is a good one, and the part to Bible Basher after the intro.

but ye...alot of their shit is just tremolo picking over the span of about 3 strings. although, i did get alot more co-ordination from playing their stuff.

I gotta admit, nothin will boost up your right hand speed like trying to learn some of the songs of "Schizophrenia" by Sepultura, that's some fun ass shit

I have the solution.

this is a little dohickey i picked up from a hokey coach a couple years ago but i forgot about it.
well anyway, i needed to improve my wrist shot so I tried practicing and my coach decided that I needed stronger wrists. so he told me about this excercise he used to practice.

First find a roundish stick or A broomstik rather. then get a 4 or 5 lb weight and a string. tie a knot in the middle of the stik and tie the other end to the weight. there should be two feet in between the stik and the weight.

To do this excercise, hold the broomstik horizantily and roll the weight up to the top.
I do it about ten times. I just started it again so it should do the trik.

here you go, its from www.shredaholic.com/chromatic.html,

Chromatic Exercises

Probably the (or one of the) most important exercises for shredders are
chromatic exercises. They help develop co-ordination between the picking
hand and the fretting hand. They are best practiced using a metronome
(extremely useful tool if you want to be a shredder!)

Chromatic exercises help develop strength in all the fingers. I remember when
I first started getting into shred, my first milestone was when I practiced chromatic
exercises for about 8 hours straight one weekend. The improvement was quickly
noticeable. Before then I just couldn't play the chromatic riff to Master of Puppets
by Metallica at any sort of quick speed with alternate picking. Afterwards, it felt so much
easier and I found I could do it straight away!

My favourite chromatic exercises are the ones which work with 4 notes per string,
going up the strings from the bass to treble strings (E to e) and back down again.
I do them at the first fret, then second, up to the 12th fret. This also develops
stamina, and this little variation helps stop you getting bored. One thing to note with
these exercises; make sure you aim for accuracy before speed. If you teach your
hands to remember them incorrectly, that's how you will always play them, and it
becomes much harder when you'll have to re-learn them. Start of at an easy speed,
and gradually increase the metronome until you think you've reached your limit.
Turn it down a few b.p.m, and stay at that speed until it becomes really easy for
you. Repeat that method again and again and you should increase speed quite well.

Always use alternate picking! (up/down/up/down)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chromatic Exercises to Use:

I mostly use these patterns whilst practicing or warming up, but feel free to vary the
patterns to challenge yourself.
