My forum home's just went back up within the past couple days. Have at it. http://www.tabcrawler.com/ The revision's been in the works a long time. I'm not sure that all aspects work, but the tabs I just tried did.

It's listed in metaltabs for cross refernce sites so I don't think it's a problem posting the link. If it is, mods, please delete this and I'll change my repost a trifle.

I'm still skeptical whether it really matters what country the site's from as far as a copyright infringment. I know if I was a Brit and someone in Samoa used my lyrics for profit without my permission or without giving me credit I'd be a tad pissed off. If it was a kid or an old fart like me sitting in their house with some friends plunking on a guitar and singing I wouldn't care at all.

Ultimate Guitar can't shut down, where would we send all those noobs that register here asking for screamo-core tabs or what ever is the latest floppy fringed musical whine to be excreted by roadrunner

I've noticed a lot of copyright problems with MySongBook, which is a shame, since it has a big load of GP-tabs.

And apparently, it hasn't been solved yet. I thought their disclaimer was solid enough to keep them online, since they clearly stated that they were only a server for other people's interpretations. Guess not.

What the hell does you being pissed off have to do with the legality or illegality of anything whatsoever? And why do you think the two situations are comparable (closer would be you getting pissed off because somebody sang your lyrics at a karaoke bar)? (and, finally, why do you think you wouldn't be able to link that site?)

Berne Convention rules don't force all countries to agree in the interpretation of what a copyright extends to; Russians and Australians don't have to decide to call tabs copyright enfringement just because America did, as it's not a clear issue (as it would be if it were a book or CD being distributed by the sites). Copyrights do extend internationally, but U.S. legal precedents don't.

Oh, and don't expect that 'interpretation' stuff, however true it may be, to hold water in court. So far it seems clear that they treat it as disingenuous.
