Heard them last summer. Found them generally unimpressive. Dez got into extreme metal through Phil Anselmo and went from producing music that was a brutal as Kermit to music that's as brutal as Miss Piggy; nevertheless, he's still no more brutal than a muppet, and has none of their replay value.

A friend did me a copy of their album (The Furry Makers Hand*a Jim Henson nod to PST*) I've yet to give it a spin, though I have heard one track and yes it was heavy and less of a one trick Coal Chamber pony but I'm not totally convinced by Dez. I just feel going metal is him jumping on another trend, and I see that Johnny Santos of Spineshank fame has a new band who surprise, surprise...what's the kids favourite fad sound this minute....oh metalcore! :rolleyes:

I'll reserve full judgment til I've heard all the album :)

I'll stop when Dez does. Watching somebody 'true metal' posture is one of the least entertaining things in the world. I guess it's somewhat entertaining when the guy has no idea what he's talking about, but still.

And, like I said, the music is mediocre in all ways. It doesn't even excel at being crap. I'd overlook the other stuff if what Infinity had just said weren't a fair description, but it seems to be.

I saw them at Gwar too, and at Ozzfest 04 (I didn't really want to go, but hell, I had free tickets and Priest and Slayer were there), and both times they were pretty ace live. Devildriver might not be the most mind blowing band on the planet, but not everybody can be Cryptopsy, ya know?

I see them as the perfect middle man between Nu-metal and Death Metal. I however just plain don't like them.
