This time i drew it on paper then scanned it (MUCH EASIER) rather than doing it from scratch in photoshop. I couldnt be bothered fixing up a few things here and there (white thing in letter, size and spots around letters).

Legibility of the piece certainly does not lower the quality of the piece. I think Hez's piece is in the perfect middle. You can make out letters, but not the whole phrase without some thought. I'll be honest and admit that I asked him to tell me what it said.
Without "Subverting Consciousness" in bold im willing to bet that you couldn't have simply read it straight off the screen.
The fact of the matter, is that the logo looks fucking sick, and Hez has shown a great deal of talent here.
sifnt spot out more important things. I couldnt get over the fact that the R, T and N in "Subverting" has thicker letters in comparison to everything else (especially "Conciousness"). I shrunk them a tiny bit using liquify though.
Fair enough Mo, im really into the logos going around brutal death metal, theres some really great looking stuff, regardless if you can read it or not.

Looks pretty good...but I think I actually liked your last one better. I don't have a band yet, but when i do I think it will be called "Afterthought of Audacity."

In future Id use Adobe Illustrator though, just so its Vector and therefore infinitely scalable. Is all.
Cool band name, but the logo is kinda... gay. It doesn't have to look so 'brutal' looking you know. It's not the right kind of band name for that logo.

You shouldn't compare your logo to Defeated Sanity's. It sucks elephant wang. Try being slightly original with your logo, maybe people will recognize it a little better. Or you can just make it identical looking to 5,705 other death metal logos.

Originality doesnt mean anything, its the same with music. If i was to do a logo with a huge penis in the middle of it, it would be original, but not necessarily good.
A band could play music along the lines of rock with a parrot making noices in the backround. Thats hella original, doesnt mean its good though. :cool:

Having a penis or a parrot in those situations actually wouldn't be original. It would be derivative with a gimmick. Big difference, and don't pollute a decent argument with such fallacies. Doing something original is always important, and orthography is a non-trivial area. Aside from that, the music should probably be original as well. But the logo is much more important.

its cool but i like the white against black, kinda amateur looking logos, its been done to death tho. also it has to be unreadable because then you can sneer at anyone who cant decipher it and condescend them about "not getting it".
im a big fan of no logo but equally identifyable piece of art or symbol for merch,covers. where the name is just a small nice font but a motif in art is moreso the logo. i really like silk-screened lo-fi production of album,merch art. basic one color prints that arent perfect. cool design,minimalist approach
