hey i play hardcore/metalcore (but i listen to death/progressive/etc as well so no flaming) and i picked out Seymour Duncan SH-8 Invader Pickup Neck for my neck pickup and a Seymour Duncan SH-13 Dimebucker Pickup for the bridge in my Jackson Randy Rhoads V (cant remmeber the model it was like $300 and has no tremelo but i like it more than the tremelo ones for some odd reason...)

i just wanted to know what you guys think.

Invader in the neck? I think you could do much better. As for the Dimebucker you might want to look at Bill Lawrance (sp) pickups. Those are what Dime really used for a bridge pickup. He also fliped the pickup around so the treb poles were on the bass strings.

hmmm im kindof confused on what to get... i just heard good things on the internet about the dimebucker having excellant sound and picking up pinched harmonics and stuff... i listened to the invader in the bridge and it sounded ok... im not really looking for the dimebag sound just a good bassy and smooth distortion sound.

ok i just listened to all the neck sound bytes and ive decided on picking up the SH-6 Duncan Distortion for my neck. still deciding on either a new bridge pickup or just sticking with the dimebucker... kinda like the invader bridge sound...

Well, I'm a EMG person so I will leave you to the SD fans here. I have used and owned SD's in the past so I know thay are not bad pickups but just not for me.

You can't go wrong with a JB and Jazz setup though.

no.

haha, there are much better options. the Invader is a beast of a pickup, depends on your guitar wood, but 90% of the time the lead tone will be shit. I suppose if you play rythym most of the time then it could be ok but if you're a lead junkie then i would highly not reccomend it. Maybe describe the type of tones your going for, then some of us could help you.

Also, The samples on the web really don't do pickups justice. Really, really dont.

dude did u listen to soundbites of pickups to make a decision?? cuz if u did, DONT, most soundbites say nothing on how a pickup realy sounds.

The Invader I had in the bridge of my Warlock was never muddy.

Tuned in Eb thru a Peavey 5150. Was awesome IMO.

I don't know if I'd have wanted one in the neck position though.
