I wondered if anyone is into it at all?
Some of my friends skate and shit so I decided I could try it. I tried when I was younger and I was like no way fuck this but I can play guitar these days which makes me think I can learn to skate aswell. I can't wait to get like a board and shit I'm pretty excited. My mates will teach me. ]
I've always enjoyed watching skating and skate videos with them and shit and I think it's a cool hobby so far.
So what about other peoples interest in it and please there is no need for Skating sucks, no noone skateboards here bla bla [although now that I said it someone will I know]
I searched and there was a skate thread but it was closed it was pretty old so yeah.

I skated for like 4-5 years, i fuckin loved it.
All my mates were into it, and we would go on big missions and shit. We all got pretty good too. Then everyone kinda just stopped, and I did aswell.
I had so much fun though, some of the best times of my life.
Its fucked up learning co-ordination to ollie. Once you master an ollie and balance, all other tricks are really built off that.
I never really got that good at kickflips and whatnot, but I had a fuckin massive ollie and nollie, and i could crooked grind like fuckin crazy, on anything.
Its a shame i stopped really, but i guess a lot of the push to advance is with bein with friends.

Dont skate mongo.
Ie. If you are right-handed, usually you would stand with your left foot planted at the front of the board and push with your right (rear) leg. If you plant your right foot and push with your front foot, this is mongo, and very very gay.
When you are pushing, usually your left foot will be almost point straight ahead, with the tip of your foot at the hardware (screws). Then when you have finished pushing, you pivot that foot aroudn and stand paralelle to the board.
Just practise skating for a start, get confidant, and then you can get into practising ollies. Which are probably the most fucking hard thing to explain how to do. Maybe download an instructional video when you get to that point.

Chocolate decks are a good bang for your buck.trucks you can't go wrong with some tensors. wheels are just a preference of size. I always have spitfire wheels. and bearings. I always have the bones super six balls. their pretty expensive ( But hey, I get them for free ) but are amazingly good.
If you want some less expensive bearings with good quality try some black panthers. Shoes are important too.
I love watching guys on skateboards....very much.
Kona skatepark was just blocks from my house where I grew up and was a huge complex. Had tons of half and quarter pipes. A giant bowl in the ground and several long slolom (sp?) runs.

I agree, Tensor's rule. I have Thunder trucks at the moment and they're good too. About bearings, don't buy abec 7 because they're crappy. They broke in few days. Abec 5 are good. When you buy shoes, make sure they have a good grip. I'd recommend circa and és.

Ah. My skate days. I was never really good, and when I started getting better, I took 2 hard spills in one day, and I developed this small hint of fear when I was trying to do stuff, so I just sort of stopped trying.
I used to get Zero decks, tensor trucks, and usually any wheels I felt like. I'm still into it, and I'm gonna give it a go again when the weather warms up.

the abec rating on a bearing doesn't say shit. The abec rating indicates how much rpm the bearing can take without falling apart. And I guess you wont go 50.000 rpm :p. you won't notice any different between abec 3,5,7. It's more the weight of the bearing and how many roller balls are inside of it that makes a good bearing. And brands are important too ofcourse. a abec 7 bearing from bones is better constructed than one from some unknown brand of course

Actually, thats kinda untrue. Abec 3 - 7 you will notice a massive difference. Usually, if your shopping for bearings and going high end, higher abec ratings run smoother as well.

I had my first skateboard was I was six..didn't start again until I was 14. I don't really skate much anymore, every once and awhile. Mainly because all my friends quit(no one to skate with), cars(for transportation), our shitty climate and the fact that you need a helmet to skate in the streets.
Good brands I've had.
Decks - All Tum Yeto decks(zero, foundation, toy machine)
Trucks - Destructo, Tensor, Grind King, Independent(too heavy for me)
Risers - Yes I've always used there really..prevents stress cracks.
Bearings - Bone's China red's...get these, if you are rich get the ceramics..but the china's are great.
Hardware - Short's Silvarado, simply because they are durable and you put the too silver bolts at the nose.
Wheels - don't really matter..mainly I've either had Pig or Spitfire..mostly spitfire..A size you like is good too..I've have everything from 58.5mm to 52s..and I just checked my newest skateboard are they are 52mm.
I used to be obsessed with old school skateboarding..I even have a complete '86 Vision Mark "The Gator" Rogowski who was later charged with the brutal murder of his girlfriend! You should see the griptape art!

Yip i had tensor lo's, though wanted to get mids. A lot of my mates used Royal trucks. My Destructo's lasted me years, but tensors own. They have the switchable plate on the front for like nose/tailslides, so your trucks dont get so ground down.
Wheels, i usually just got blanks, sided 50mm. Small wheels own. I had 48mm Alien Workshop wheels but they wore down and go tooo small.
As for decks, there are cheaper brands which have pretty good boards. Not sure if its international, but Hardcore boards were propular here. I Skated on Monkey Stix, New Deal, AWS all good boards, a lot of them are made in the same factory and are oretty much the same thing. I would stay away from Blinds, though i only have one experience with them, my board fuckin chipped like nothing else.
Bearings, usually got cheap ones and replaced them every month or two. SKF and Irrom (i think is new zealand). Black Panthers always looked good to me, but were like 2-3 times more expensive than the cheaper bearings,
Hardware - Get Nutlocks. I had the same hardware the whole time i skated. And they are sooo much easier to use when taking off or putting on trucks.
There's nothing like watching some friends of yours wipe out trying to do something beyond their skills. Except maybe seeing Dissection wipe out. Damn my eyes for missing that.
If possible, you might want to just coast on your mates' boards until you have some stuff on your own. Or go to a college dormitory and walk around; you're bound to find a skateboard that's ripe for stealing. That about ends the advice I can give. Stealing is absolutely key, though.

fuck that, i hate people who steal, and every single person hates getting things stolen from them. show some respect for peoples property. i hope you dont think stealing is key in music as well.
anyway, i skated for 4-5 years. had lots of vidoes. favorites were Zero: misled youth, and dying to live, Black label: label kills, Birdhouse: the end, and various other ones. i used strictly Krux trucks, spitfire wheels, and lucky bearings. i went through various deck brands. i talked about this in a thread recently, oh well. i used black label, darkster, element. i was better at grinds than any of my friends. i was a little more technical, but went as big as the friends would go as well. i guess the "biggest" thing i did was kickflip a long 8 stair. i quit soon after i started getting handrials, and soon after i started playing guitar. i still wear globe shoes, and have been for the past 4 years. i think i quit 2 years ago.
Never really got to grips with skateboarding, used to BMX a fair bit, but i've got soap shoes now :)

I'm still skateboarding on the same board I've had since I was in 3rd grade. You just can't beat a 19.99 skateboard from K-Mart. Its a fun sport, but I like snowboarding since it doesn't require tons of hardwork to learn how to ollie or do other tricks.

TD - Kickflip 8 stairs?? fuck that shit! I'm too much of a pussy..i've hurt myself enough skateboarding without trying to do shit like that.
Now that I think of it I basically quit because Im a smoker and I used to smoke a shitload of weed..weed makes you motivation to try tricks as well as it tires you out quick.

No...lol, the only "grinds" I could do were fs/bs boardslides, 5050, 5-0 and noseslides..the basics really.

im more into bmx riding, i was better at tricks when i was 14 than now. but in the warm season i regularly ride, this is what keeps me relatively in shape. cruising on a bmx on a warm summer night, bombing hills, beating cars thru lights is a part of my life, im doing it till my legs dont work anymore
owned a mongoose decade 1987 up until 4 years ago, i left this bike at a restaurant<heavy rain, so i caught a ride> i used to work at, inside the place with the lock and key next to it. next morning the boss brings it outside and puts in on a bike rack without locking it, gone in 10 minutes.............................i bought this bike in the year 1987, it was the first fucking thing i ever bought. its not worth anything, its just like owning an old powell parelta board or a santa cruz, novelty, nostalgia, etc. i owned this bike longer than i played drums, cherished it more than any drumset
but now i have an even older mongoose frame a friend kicked down, this one goes back to the motor cross racing style bikes, early 80's, again its kinda small, small tubes and easy to fold, fuck up etc. not worth anything, but its gonna look so good when i get it up and running

skating and bmx riding isnt what it used to, and i know this is cliche' to say and people were saying the same shit when i was young.
the whole skate park thing didnt exist when i was younger, and this was when skating hit mainstream in the 80's, im talking skate movies and video games that came along with the surfing revival from the 60s and 70s. i think towns and cities made those parks so they could illegalize it anywhere else. stiff fines and real enforcement. that is a complete shame because its funner riding thru the city and going thru traffic and any natural obstacle that came along. i mean, you know, that was the point, thats what made it big in the first place. i dont see anyone skating in the city anymore, i rarely see older kids from my generation bomb hills at 4-5am anymore, the younger kids seem like brats. kids nowadays will drive to the "skate park" spend the day trying to land one move and drive home. the shit is a fucking hobby and not a means of transportation, which coincidentally was the point. skate parks are like indian reservations, ya'll got duped.
at least with the bmx its a little better, but far less people are into it.

Ok its fucked, u should really get a video.
But basically, you jump but kick down on the tail of the board (popping). At the same time you have to co-ordinate your front foot to slide up toward the nose of the board. This evens the board out from being like / to being -- straight. Its a really fucked thing to explain so try get sdome of your buds to have a go at showing you. Its a fuckin hard thing to master.

for some reason seeing "kickflip" there brought back memory. i was at a local skatepark one time, having an ok day. i decided to kickflip off the top of the halfpipe to the flat ground, seeing as it was the highest drop in the little park. it was an 8 foot drop, which didnt really scare me, but i had a narrow runway. i tried for a while, got close, but one time i landed with my foot sideways  . now that fuckin hurt. nothing broke, but i couldnt walk for hours. i crawled under the ramp and smoked a few bowls. the next day my foot started getting dark purple, not my whole foot, but a lot of it. looked pretty damn crazy and took a long ass time to heal. that brings the thread to a good topic, skateboarding injuries :) .

that was so long ago, i cant really remember learning at that point. i remember having trouble getting over another board though. haha, one time, when i was still learning, i was trying to ollie over two stacked boards. i went up to it and popped, my back wheels hit the top board and somehow i flew back. i actually landed on the board on my back!!! i was still rolling too. so i rolled away as if i were on a luge. the highest stack of boards i ever got over was 5. you know, where you stack them on their sides. pretty common measurement of how high you can ollie around here anyway.
i never split my finger, but ive landed flat on my back a couple of times. hahaha. heres one. we set up some ply wood about 8 feet away from the driveway. so the object was to make it over the grass, to the wood. i went super fuckin fast, but didnt make it. my back truck got caught on the lip of the wood and it stuck there. i, however, flew completely over the board, which was another 8 feet, and slid oh another six feet on the grass. i slid on my back, so i was just laying there staring up at the sky after it all happened.

Yeah guys whats up, been skating for 6 years now, But its kinda funny, cause im 6"4' and look very unproportional.
Anyway funny shit happened to me.
Ok so down here in Aus the biggest Vert ramp in the southern hemisphere was built (it's 15 1/2 feet, i believe), so me being the lanky dumbass I tried to drop in.
1st time... BANG.
2nd time... FUCKING BANG!
I thought I broke my arm. It fucking hurt so bad. So off to the hospital 4 hours later X-Rays turn up nothing. Can still play guitar.
Week Later (today) decided to go for a skate. Ok. Boardslide small handrail. Stack on arm. HOLY FUCK THE PAIN.
I lay there, moaning like a fucking dumbass, for 15 minutes, in the middle of a populated skatepark. Ahhh, the joys of skateboarding.
This may seem like a negative post but would I continue if I didnt love it?

yeah, vert ramps are tough, but once you get them down they are easier than street. and actually my whole point here, vert is boring. street kicks vert's ass anyday. i dont know how many times, as a kid, id turn on the x-games to see the skateboarding even, and it would be lame ass vert. street is cooler to watch, and better to do.
this isnt a bail, but a freak landing. one time me and this other guy connected my three rails into one very long one. it was a very strange combination if you had seen it. first was the round rail (8ft), then it was the double plastic pipe one (10ft), then it was the square one (6ft), pretty long fuckin ways. they were all different heights but we managed to make them level, and sturdy, with bricks. again, i was really good at grinds so i knew id have no trouble. i went for it and made it fine untill the end, i got of balance. i started leaning back but i was right at the end. i jumped up to try and get off the board but for some crazy reason my heel caught the nose and spun the board in a PERFECT heelflip. i didnt catch the flip in the air or anything, so much for style, but i did land directly over the truck bolts. i couldnt do that if id tried, not of a rail anyway.

problematic
2006-03-18, 21:16
haha. place your front foot a little off the board. Do a sort of ollie motion but you gotta kick your front foot off to the top side... Have you centre of gravity directly over the board and jump high enough to make sure the board fully rotates. Catch it right sie up and land.
Its hard to explain, you should look up trick tips on the net.
The Execrator
2006-03-18, 21:20
Yeah, you basically just shoot your foot up and out, dragging the side of your foot on the board. With the basic ollie motion like problematic said. You can try searching some videos on youtube.com if you want to see someone do a trick. It comes in handy.

Want me to call 911?!"....I had a buzzed head and lipstick was all over it for some school assignment...the fucking guy thought I had serious head wounds. lol
I didn't get hurt too bad...SEVERAL spained ankles/wrist, SEVERAL bloody knees, SEVERAL brusies hips/palms(at one point my left palm had a swell for about a year), and a ruptured right pinky joint for trying a ollie to indy grab on street...the board smashed into my hand. :)

Yeha man.
Bastian Salabanzi fucking owns. I got the Flip vid and that cunt is like 15-16 in the footage, already defined the best street skater in the fucking world. He is fucking amazing.
I had the honour to see him when the es' (i think) team came over here and did a demo. I think thats what made the skating scene start to die, everyone in my country realised how much they suck! :p
I disagree. Bastien Salabanzi is a very, very technical skater, but I wouldn't immediately dismiss him as being 'the best'. I don't see him frontside flipping 17 like A. Reynolds did. Im not saying Andrew Reynolds is the best, But im just saying he has a different style.
His full Cab kickflips are ridiculous, and 270 front boards also are so meh... But in skating I prefer the fucking gnarly shit, Ill atke a Zero video (have all :D) over a Flip vid anyday.

For any skaters looking to pick up some sort of video to start off, try The First Step. It's got really basic stuff in there, but not too much explanation. In it they explain how starting off trying to ollie on grass is good for beginners. I got into skating for quite a while, but that was a while ago. Whenever I do feel like picking up a skateboard, I have a really tiny set of tricks to choose from: Fakie/normal Shove-it,kickflip, 180, and then just flipping and jumping over stuff. Man, when I first nailed a kickflip, I had the great feeling of accomplishment accompanied by a million bruises on my legs. What's cool is I have a friend who is incredible at guitar and also likes to skate, so that's works pretty well.

Some people take some nasty spills, I know, and I feel lucky that I never broke anything while skating. Maybe I just have good balance and such. Or maybe I'm not just not X-TREME ENOUGH, I gotta go do a 360 Flip over a Semi, see y'all later!

ive only got my old skating recordings on tape:(. i would have gladly posted them. i never broke anything either, just fucked my ankle once. ive gone pretty big, but not professional level or anything. i just remembered a time when i found a sidewalk aside a loading dock. it was an average sidewalk, 3-4 feet wide. got some speed, popped over the sidewalk, landed in the dock. loading docks are great for skating.

It sucks now because one of our friends dislocated his knee and can't skate until April next year. It sucks skating without him... none of us are amped much anymore.
Nice to see, and were I a bit more ego centered I'd see some kind of symbolism in this.
One of my teachers and a bunch of other teachers/proffessionals is having an open dance floor for breakers in the city of Malmö, right next to the so called skate park; a monumental structure in concrete, covering an area of 2500 square meters. So what could be more natural than taking a break and learn the roalling board secrets - I just had my first try two days ago. Flat open ground, any day.

I've seen this guy skating in real life before, many times. HE fucking kills in this Aussie video called ' Killself '. If you can check out that video, there are some seriously ridiculous tricks performed.
17 stair kickflips and backside 180's are just insane.
Killself is teh video. Look hard and you'll find it.
If you can't, try finding some Chima Ferguson footage. He's the guy that does the 17 set nutters in Killself, but he's just insane all the time. I've skated with him aswell, he's a pretty cool guy, but I was intimidated around him, considering his skill and all.
I cant believe you found Richie Jackson from Death Skateboard co., out of the whole world of skateboarding.

I haven't skated since I broke my ankle from being drunk and trying to ollie down a 15 foot drop. Ironically my mom bought me a new pair of Fallens after it was over.
Which looking back, I'm glad I'm done. I would waste over 40 bucks of my hard earned money every month to buy a new deck which would be lucky to last a week. :bawling:
But if I had to do it all over again, I'd do it in a hearbeat.

Jesus dude..I'd buy an $80 pro deck and it would last several months..then again, I didn't skate 15 stair rails crazy shit.

I'd buy Zero, Alien Workshop, Flip, Element, Antihero, etc. So I forked over some cash on pretty expensive boards in my day.
Everyone thought I could have gone pro. I always idolized Jamie Thomas and Josh Kasper so I would always try huge gaps like stairsets and stair rails. But I remembered I like music more than the pain of smacking your should into pavement. But I have been thinking about trying again.
Yey - I've gone back and forward on a smoot pavement surface today... several times... and smoothly too... right, next lesson, learn to change direction... ouch that hurt... but I think I'll give it a few more hours.

It is the highest vert ramp in southern hemisphere.
Wow i didn't know there was a skateboarding thread.. haha Nor that this many people skateboard or at least used to..
I'm like one of the rare 20 year olds that still skates... I'm actually working on a new video thats pretty sick already. (yeah its not like pro sick) But within one video session weekend i did this massive 9 stair, did 3 hand rails, and jumped this long ass double set.
I've been skating for about 7.5 years now. I'll probably actually be going back to this park down the road here today as well haha.
Just went skating on campus finally.
I finally got to try this handrail in front of hte dining hall and i absolutely can't fucking believe i couldn't land this thing. I was 50-50ing the hell out of it every time and i couldn't keep my backfoot on the back of the board for me to come off it.
Its this deciently tall handrail with a mellow kink at the bottom. I would get on it every time grind it then i would get over the kink no problem but it would nose dive everytime because i couldn't keep pressure on the board to keep the nose up.
Oh well maybe next time I cut my hand up. haha Its good to go though.

do you have any skating pics? or does ANYBODY have some good skating pics. unfortunately, back when i skated, my friends and i were oblivious to digital cameras, or they werent even common then. i really wish i had pics of when i was a good skater. just last night my friend introduced me to a friend of his by starting it off that i "used to fuckin tear up the streets" skating. cause, yeah, i was always a street skater, never found half pipes to be very interesting, too limited.
Yeah man i'm putting together a video. I'm trying to get as much footage as possible. I'm not having a hard time getting my own footage i'm having a hard time getting enough for other people. So i had to go buy a new one.
Then i finally started jumping this double set. I tried it think 5 maybe 6 times. Its not has HARD as people might think, but its definately not easy. I ended up calling it quits and walking away. I'll try it again in maybe 2 weeks and ACTUALLY landing it.. i was coming pretty fucking close.

awesome! you are more into it than i thought. i used to be the same. although i was very serious. id spend all hours of the day either building various contraptions to skate on, or just simply skating on what i already had. its AMAZING what you can do with: cinderblocks, plywood, metal rails and a brain.

Yeah for some reason thats a stock trick of minethat i haven't taken up to enough stuff. I've 360 fliped a few small gaps, but never any stairs really. The one where that kid in the video kickflips the 5 stair and slips out i saw this other kid come close as shit to 360 flipping it the other week it was rediculous. mostly because i should be able to do it. Maybe next time i'll try.
I nollied the steps next to those ones too. I still can't believe i couldn't do a better job keeping the board under me on those stairs, but oh well it was my first attempt at those stairs before.

Nigga, no offence, but after all the hype you were giving, thought you'd be much better!
Fucking land a trick! haha.
Too bad I don't live way the fuck out in America, I'd love to go skating with you. We're about at the same level too. But I don't really go for gnarly shit anymore. That's all I used to do. Simple tricks down big shit. After about 4 years of this torture, I gave up. Now all it will be is a F/S 180 down a 6 set max. Fuck man, you reminded me of all the good times I had with friends (who don't skate anymore :() and we'd just go down to the nearest 8 or grass gap and plug shit down it. Friends im with are pussy, have a whinge about little injuries. Those guys I used to go with were the shit.
Too bad I can't get some of the footage my old friends have of me, we'd all be doing nutters shit. Most dangerous trick I ever landed was a 50/50 on a small stone ( :uzi: ) ledge, horizontally across 10 stairs, ollied off. Got that on cam too. Friends were burlier. 15 set handrails, 180's down long 10's, etc. Big cunts. However I still loved countless tricks such as b/s 180's down various long, high gaps, just like you were doing. Cool shit nigga.
Anyway, fucking don't be a pussy and just go for it next time. I always hurt myself more bailing than actually trying to land the fucking trick. The most you can get from commiting is an abrupt stop or a slip-out. But damn, if you left that much fucking blood on the ground, that must be some pretty sketchy gravel.
Damn dude, fucking wish I could go with ya.

Oh land a trick eh? Pah what do you know. :p I didn't get enough time on either thing to actually get it but next time i will. Yeah you're right though i always get way more hurt bailing. Also with stuff like that i finally realized like 2 years ago to just say fuck it and just seriously try stuff i've landed way WAY more shit that way. Handrails after a few tries without even falling once, decient sets of stairs.
Edit: Oh yeah funny you say that too cause i'm probably one of hte most consistent people out there. Thats why i'm not the most "tech." I don't even really like tech stuff that much. I just like to haul ass and busts some sweet grinds and do some lines and stuff.

Nice work dude, good points. I'm not really tech either. The most 'tech' trick I can land, is a Inward Heelflip. Although I haven't landed one since February as I switched to 8 inch boards. So yeah, I really just do tricks I already know, never going for new stuff. But I enjoy it. One day I will put proper footage of me on youtube for all (2, 3 people) to see.

Back whenever I skateboarded I was one of the more 'tech' skaters but probably did'nt do it long enough to really get good at it. I was into old-school tricks like hand-stands, bonelesses and walk-the-dogs ( I was pretty footwork oriented ) I preferred 7.5 width boards.

haha fucking nice. Nah there is this kid at the park that is just about basically only tech. The only ... ONLY thing that kid skates the entire park is this like 12inch heigh long blue box. I have only had one 8 my entire life. It was like.. YEARS.. and YEARS ago when they actually made them. Nowadays its pretty hard to find em, they keep getting smaller and smaller and smaller.
I have the most.. .specific setup i've ever seen. i'm one of those extremely picky skaters, i could probably not be so picky.. but i am.
I use whatever 7.75 boards as long as there is plenty of concave, orion trucks with grindking kingpins in them, i ride the back truck pretty tight, while the front a lil looser (overall much tighter setup than most people ride), 53-54 mm spitfire wheels (always turn them around so there is no graphic), black panther bearings and i try to get shorty silverado hardware when neccesary.
As a result this board is completely unrideable if not in the correct position.

They don't make 8's anymore? I had I one or two, one of them was a Black Label S. Agah model. I always got spitfire wheels as well, and turned the graphics inwards too. lol....as well as Shorty's silverado hardware. I've had a few set of black panthers, but then I changed stricky to Bones china's..they are no ceramics but they are fucking great bearings.
I've tried lots of different trucks, from Independent, grind king, Destructo, ect. Right now I have some tensor lows on my deck, although it's 2 years old and I haven't used it much at all.

But hey i didn't know that was you in that video haha. I saw it a lil while back while looking on here. That does look rediculously fucking tall, fuck that. I've tried a ramp that had some vert to it... straight to the ground i went.
And why the hell do you use 8 inch boards? haha I am a 7.75 man religiously
Hahah yeah, highest vert ramp in the southern hemisphere, never stepping on it again.
Shit damn, I used to be 7.75 religiously aswell. However, I have a size 13/14 (US) foot, so I eventually gave in. Kept landing on board with half of foot on deck etc. 8 inch cleared up this problem, and I find it nicer to stomp long gaps, as there is more board to land on, kickflips flip slower so I have more control, and shuvits are caught easier. I love it. It's not better, both sizes have their pros and cons (for me), but I just fucking hated lading with half my foot on the ground, hurting my ankles, toes, and heels.
If I wasn't bigfoot I would still skate 7.75. Shit man, I had 7.75's for like 5 years!

That makes solid sense, but there is so many fucking pros now that use 7.5 that its sick. It feels like a tech deck on my feet!
I just like the control of a "bigger board" (7.75 vs 7.62 or 7.5)Especially since i'm not all teched out anyways.

well guys, i found a video tape of me skating, so i recorded the tv screen with the digital camera. i grinded way too much, as read on the opening note of the vid. i might be able to get the vid up tonight if im able to use my step dads computer, but chances are i'll have to do it tomorrow. i wouldnt be too excited about it though, its a little boring, but i'll leave that up to you guys. i'll let you know here when its up. there are some decent parts on there, i'd say.

Yeah thats how it can be. Oh well its not that big a deal. I mean i'll go into it knowing it is higher quality. I mean same thing with the video i posted it looks alot better than that.
I have a demo of the new video that i made, and even on a big tv that isn't flat screen it still looks fucking awesome as shit.
Maybe i'll have to send you the full lenth video i have. That or i could maybe break it up into parts and you tube it. But its a pretty decient video. Alot of "funny" parts in it. Although this new video is going to be much more dedicated to skating than the other one.

thanks. i swear to you guys, i used to skate lots of street, but we never took the camera many places . even that loading dock was a private facility Pwnt by my friends dad.
So i watched the video. And for the first like 2 minutes.. i"m like.. ok..
Then i started slightly getting impressed haha.
Dude its about obvious that you were half decient, WHY WERE YOU SKATING SOMETHING SO LOW.... haha OMG it was kiling me. I'm like its obvious this kid can skate semi decienet, but hs skating a 6 inch rail...
I mean some of that stuff you ollied off of was pretty big. You have a very intresting style, especially landing stuff, and i must say it would appear from this video that you seem to be pretty consistent with all this stuff which is good.
Now i really gotta show you my first "real" video.

haha! i just love the low rails :D.
i really dont know why i didnt record some better stuff
i was about 2-3 years into skating on that video. i skated for like a whole year more without recording. that was a mistake. i havnt skated for about a year. and i stopped being serious about 3 years ago. stopped doing much of anything with it. but id like to try it again. id need a job for a board though.
EDIT: oh yeah. its mainly small stuff because i said we usually just recorded at home. so yeah... little rail it was. that high drop at my house was just by chance. i usually didnt have cool big stuff available at home.
another EDIT!!!! i just remembered how much energy skating takes. i mean, if i couldnt land something, i usually would go for 30 minutes just over and over untill i did, cause id get pissed. id get all fuckin worked up and worn out at the same time. i dont know if im up for all that again. and thats how you get good, pretty much.

ACtually you bring up a good point, i'm in pretty damn good shape, (no where near as good as i was about 3 months back) but still good and i was at the local park. me and this kid were just really getting into our own tricks we were trying. We were going back and forth back and forth trying it. He was trying to do backside tailsides to regular (he kept landing them fakie no problem, which was still sick ha) and i was trying nose blunts on this box. Both of us were locking in damn near every single mother freaking try and just couldn't land them for some reason. Eventually about 40 minutes into it, and everybody lese kind of backed off, we were hitting the tricks at a much faster rate, so less time to recover. Well eventually i started getitng a stomach cramp so i just kept going on through it, well sometimes i would stick really bad on the slide so i would jump off and it would be like a sudden stop and i would bend over on my stomach cramp and that shit hurt bad.
haha long story short, i fought through it and landed that fucking nose blunt first time i had ever actually tried it before. First time i have ever gotten up and actually slide it as well. Its my new fav trick. that and frontside over crooks (its about the same trick anyway)

yep. there are just some things you arnt going home without landing. even if you cant walk right for a few days after :) which is another thing. i did some tough work the other day (picking up hay bails) and i was sore for about 3-4 days, which is sad. if i was still a skater i doubt that would happen to my muscles.

Don't say that. Different activities work muscles COMPLETELY differently. i skate about 2-3 times a week, pretty hard. I ran a pft last saturday, i'm still somewhat sore. The day after holy FUCK.

Got to try out my new board and new trucks today at the park. met some more people who skate and go to my college.
Threw down frontside noseblunts and backside blunts on this rail liek it wasn't shit. Then did some tailslides on it. I was getting sick today. First timei had tried any of that stuff, and it wasn't nothin but a thang.
Hopefully it won't rain this weekend, so i can get some new footage.
Apparently one of the guys had seen that small video i put on youtube that i posted on here haha. He wasl iike hey dd you make that you tube video? I was like uh.. .yeah thats nuts you've fucking seen it haha.
So my entire fucking body hurts now haha.
Holy shit everybody and there MOTHERS was skating today. Every person i have ever met was skating at hte park today. I got pumped the fuck up. Out of nowhere i'm like.. i'm going to noseslide this handrail. (theres like this handrail going down this fly box thing, its really hard to hit, hard to explain why though) so i did that. Then i kgrind it.. Then i fucking backside lipslided it.
It was sick to say the least. THen i think these one guys were talking shit about me.. not sure if they were or not but it got me pumped and pissed. So i was like oh.. so want to talk shit eh? I suck huh. So i rolled up and started attempting to kickflip front board this rail ont he ground. After about 15 tries i popped it and rolled away like it wasn't shit. Needless to say, it was one of the best sessionsi've had in awhile. Hopefully i can skate this weekend, but my body is definately busted up right now.
Reading this thread makes me wanna buy a skateboard and start skateboarding. However, last time i was on one i got off the ground and the skateboard was 100 feet in front of me. Needless to say i busted my ass hardcore style just by attempting to stand on it.
Edit:
Speaking of which whats a good board to buy?

Trust me skateboarding is all about busting ass then getting back up. You dont' think i ate shit today? haha Sheeeet son. I must agree, that is one of the best things ever. I want a dog that can skateboard :bawling:
Hed' be my best fwend...
Btw. I got some new footage coming. I've almost finishd my video part fot his video i've been working on. Just need a few more things, that doubleset land and a few tricks, like my newly stock bluntslides, a backside lip on this "handrail" and a few other things.
That one handrail i was trying to frontside in that video, i landed that shit super nice the other day. And after i did that about 2 tries later i got the backside boardslide, which btw if you've never skated a kinked handrail, its fucking STUPER hard to land a fucking backside boardslide on one of those for some reason. After i landed it, i attempted to start cleaning it up and in the process ate so much shit, time and time again.
BTW, when you go skating make sure any shit you got with you you keep near you, i got robbedd TWICE while skating that handrail. You read it right.. TWICE.
Luckily i got all my stuff, but a bunch of people took all my stuff (wallet, keys, and what not) then ditched it about 100 feet from where it was. Then some other chicks came by and stole hte rest of my shit, (my backpack and drink) and ended up feeling "bad" and brought it back. They basically stole it for no reason, and they searched through my shit too.
So moral of hte story, watch your fucking shit. Apparently we just steal for the hell of it now.

Anything other than a dorky white kid puts fear into a black guys heart, trust me. I've seen it time and time again. They act tough, but if you just get right back in their face its over.
Not to mention you think YOU GUYS scared em? holy fuck i mean imagine having a foot high mohawk, a leather jacket with spikes and studs and fur on it and combat boots that went up half your calfs. They avoided me like the plague, or attempted to befriend me (put me on their side haha) which i often was just like uh no.
But nah this was fucking like somewhat preppy stupid college kids. Poor people steal cause they want stuff, these people stole out of pure fun, and enjoyment and to fuck with me (the first group)
They somewhat heckled me when i was getting ready to try the handrail again. I just ignored it though.
After watching the video its funny watching people look at me while i was doing the rail. Its somewhat near the stadium and everybody was leaving hte football game so there was lots of spectators. It was even funnier watching their reactions to me eating shit haha. I would literally fall on my face like 5 feet from other people haha.

yeah i feel fortunate to FINALLY have a skate park thats local and is free with no pads. IN north carolina there are barely any parks at all.. and hte ones that were there were over 2.5 hours away, you had to pay and usually wear a helmet. In virginia for some reason they have so many free parks, with no pads. This park is literally 5 minutes from my house. I did that blunt right before work. I rolled by for about 20 minutes.
Those states can afford insurance! As for the Carolinas we are to dumb to right up a disclaimer to have a free park!

Duh. Thats why i'll be taking it up a notch once i actually find some decient rails. (btw that fly box completely blows because there are no ramps at the skate park, so you have about 20 feet to push before you hit it, completly sucks)
The only ones that are obvious are kinked rails, and although iu've started mastering the one that i showed you before, i'm not going to try to blunt it, i might noseslide it or k it.. but definately no blunt. There is a 13 and a 12 stair around here that i'm going to check out maybe this week. We'll see how they fare.
So i went skating like 2 days ago and i completely fucked up this kickflip over this long six stair. I hope like hell i didn't break the joint of my big toe but it most definately fucking hurts like a bittttttch. I'm waiting for my friend to upload the video of it and some other sweet shit from that day.
I noseslided that kinked handrail it was pretty nice and a few other things. But i'm mostly waiting to see the slow mo of that bail. It basically felt like my toe touched my shin bone. I pulled the ever living shit out of my calf muscles too from my foot stretching upward way too hard. Basically from my knee down is pretty fuggged.

I do the 180 in the beginning (which is probably the cleanest backside i've ever done over a set of stairs) then you see me do a noseslide then a 50-50 on this pretty tall ledge, then i do the noseslide on the handrail. Woot woot. Also the scene with the stomping of hte board, and the riding and standing on the middle of it.
Oh and by the way. I did the ledge AFTER i had already fucked up my foot. Thats called fucking dedicated haha.
Shit man, you and your friends are really good! Makes me wish i never quit.
I've never met that guy who is ripping up those minis. My friend was telling me about him. Thats some pretty sick shit, he wasn't kidding haha. Makes me wish i could skate a mini :(
Somehow i think you get hurt alot less haha. I do alot of falling soo......
According to my friend (the guy who recorded this) he says I fall harder than anybody hes ever seen. I guess thats what happens when you go fairly big.
What sucks the most is RIGHT before we went to skate the usual spot i found a new double set that i was going to try. Its a 5 and a 4. It looks so freaking easy. Next time i'm up and going i'll go and do the double set first. woot. Its perfect too. Nice runup and plenty of good landing room. Its pretty open too so its very video camera friendly.

I used to be a skater. Was pretty good at it too.
Learned from the veterans, and got a lot of my friends into it.
But then i broke my arm trying to ollie + manual down a closet placed on some steps.
I was in a cast for about three months, went right back to it after my arm got better,
but then i just started to lose intrest, became more focused on my guitar playing.
Still have my board down in the basment. Maybe one day i'll get back to it... who knows.

Just gotta push through the pain ahha. I found that i was losing intrest once i stopped attempting to progress. Once i kept progressing and getting a hell of a lot better as a result of pushing myself, i found a definte intrest. Especially since i want to record and finish this video i've started. Guitar/my band most definately did take alot of my time away from skating, but luckily my drummer was also one of my big skate friends so we did alot of skating while my other band mates watched.

Yeah I know what you mean man..I've ruptured a joint in my pinky finger doing an ollie to indy grab on street. lol. I've never broken a bone, but I must of sprained my ankle at least 50 times and probably 75 for my left wrist. As well as scarred kneecaps and elbows...and completely ruined clothing. lol.
I didn't quit cause of the pain though..it was the fact I'd get so out of breath because I started smoking cigarettes and weed a lot at 15. Since then it was a gradual downhill quit time. I don't smoke weed, but because of the cigarettes, skateboarding still winds me.
A lot of my friends quit for drugs as well..so I really didn't have anyone to skate with anyways. And the mandatory helmet law makes things a fucking bitch..but I still skate once every few months.
When I'm 30 I'll have to get a long board.
helmet law? what the fuck? Good thing i'm foreign. I don't have to follow your fucking laws!!! woot

Pfft, they would give you a ticket regardless..you think being foreign would exempt you?
It's fairly rare that they ticket people though...but they do every once in awhile.

Well they can't prosecute me under your laws. Its part of agreements between countries. To my knowledge anyways. I could be wrong...
Note i changed the address to the video because my friend made some changes to it and reuploaded it. Now it has me breaking hte board in half.. woot.

Hey everybody.... who doesn't read this thread....
I'm finally posting my segmented full length video on Youtube. This is the original divx movie i made like 3 somethin years ago. Its got the standard video parts in it, and a bunch of bullshit and funny footage.
It'll probably be finished by tonight. (uploading) Its 4 parts total, for about 36 minutes.

here is a compliation my friend made of this weekend.
Nice shit nigga! Love the stairs shizzm!
Your foot doesn't look too bad, but i'm sure it must hurt a lot more. I for one know. Bad to hear dude, I know what it's like to be off your board when you're craving for a skate, it sucks.
I've pretty much quit altogether.
Haven't gone in like 2 months, the holidays are coming up in a week but ill be just staying home most days, studying like a cunt.
I doubt i'll feel like going / have the feel of skating. When I lose (what little) ability I had, I just can't be fucked.
You know what makes me never feel like going to another skatepark again?
It's the fucking new kids.
Pisses me off to hell. You roll up to a skatepark with a mate or two, only to find there are a group of little 11 year old kids with a camera. Tearing the fuck out of the park. F/S nose the ledge to kicky manual shuv to heelflip down 4 and if they don't get the combo first go they have a little fucking whiney bitch, throwing their board around and screeching in their little high 5 year old baby ass voices "fuck, cunt". I swear, I could fucking knock these fuckers out. Then their friends, not really responsive at first, ask the tantrum fucker to film them as they attempt a similar or better line. It's not about fucking skating anymore. It's about beating your friends, and getting shit on camera. Once the line is complete eveyone has a little cheer, "yay!" only to succumb to their repulsive consciences telling them to cheer, for that is what should be done. None of them give a fuck about skating. Only to beat their friends, and self-gain. They just want to be 'as cool as Tony Hawk and shred up the streets'. Fuck that. Of course I should be congratulating Hawk, on his recent release of 'Tony Hawk Underground 923', the 'underground' a paradox of its highest form. The old fuck should've stopped making games at #2, for the rest are so far from reality it's not fucking funny, it's just fucking dumb and lame. These fuckhead kids, see the bulshit of these games, the instant perfection of every trick at a click of a button, and work and work to attain a similar level of 'skill', or else they'll chuck a whine and a bitch. What's more is these kids are the biggest fucking pussies, yet act hard when you get in their way or similar. Then ask an older guy to bum a cigarrette and hang around with them for a bit, in a fucking new retarded realm of a habitat. Seriously, they're not fooling anyone. And they're fucking gay. And their mothers expect them home before 6 "or else" to have their fucking nappies changed.
What's even worse, is the fucking new scene. If there even is a fucking scene. These fuckhead kids are a big part of the fucked up scene, that is how fucking badly skateboarding has sold out. No one gives a fuck anymore. It's about filming tricks, getting sponsored, and winning competitions. Fucking repulsive. When I walk into a skate shop, I see no difference to it than an "Emporio Armani" or "Chanel" shop. Everything is overpriced like fuck, everybody's being a cool skater boy (Thanks Avril Slutvigne, you fucking dumb bitch), and all the coolest guys in school have a board. Is anyone angry? Fuck no.
Generic ass shop clerks who 'skate' are happy, they are getting paid for an excuse of a job and bludging around all day acting stoned and tired to conform to a stereotype of skaters no skater should be proud of, except for the poser ass skaters, who basically hang around places with a board and similar mates, smoking dope, thinking they're dope and cool, until someone might realise that they're fucking retarded, they can't do shit on a board, just a bunch of conforming cunts who I would be glad to defecate onto.
Then there are the fat fucks in the office, cashing in like Electra in a brothle. Not a single on of them has touched a skateboard in their entire fucking lives, but of course they are glad to cash in on the 'enterprise' that is skateboarding.
Who started this? Probably Stacy Peralta and the motherfucking Bones Brigade, along with the little fuckhead cunt Hawk. I believe they were the first to make commerically available boards, not just signatures or whatever, and kickstarted the whole thing in the wrong direction. Money. You cunts. Fcuking I hate fucking Tony Hawk. Games, clothing, biographies on the cunt... When are people gonna realise that Hawk is old, and can't fucking skate anymore, he's just gay. All he did was land the first fucking 900. Get over it. That was 7 years ago. Others since have landed it, even no names, but no one makes a fuss. Everyone's still overhyped about stupid shit of Hawk and his fucking multi-million dollar scene to actually realise he's gay as fuck, he's old, a family man, and can't really skate anymore.
Then there's the other end of the spectrum, Bam, Jackass, and similar shit.
Bam is so fucking gay. No one in the world comes close to being as gay as him. He is just so fucking gay. So he releases a gay ass clothing brand, supports and is sponsored by the gayest skate team ever, Element, who are more self-obsessed with their image than Michael Jackson, and he is just so fucking gay. Don't get me wrong, I loved this kid back in the day. Back in the CKY days (no, not the band, the video). He was fucking raw, original, and didn't give a fuck. Usually progression is good. And it was for a bit, with the 'Jackass' tv series. Then the movie comes out. OH GREAT YOU'RE GAY AS FUCK. Then Viva La Bam comes out. No other television show in history has come close to the gayness of this program. Not Queer Eye, not even MASH. All he fucking does, it spend money like a fag, HAS THE MOST STAGED SKITS EVER, and is fucking gay. His parents are gay. It's all staged as hell. Obviously they wouldn't allow him to keep making the program if they were so 'shocked' as they appear to be, but they're not, they're just gay. He runs around like a spoilt bitch playing stupid pranks on people. He used to be funny. Now he's just a fucking scum. He can't even skate that well. Like Hawk, he's just popular.
I would really like to see CKY5. But will they do it. Bam's public antics just won't work when he's surrounded by paparazzi and 10 year olds. They'll have to do mostly private stunts, or stunts under disguise. IT was good when they weren't big. Those videos shaped me as I was growing. I never idolized him, I never bought any of his shit, I just lied him for being cool and whatnot. But now he's a fucking sellout son of a bitch, April.
/skate and related rant.
I'm gonna cool off playing Thrasher Skate and Destroy (http://au.gamespot.com/ps/sports/thrasherskateanddestroy/index.html) and Tony Hawks 2, like the good old fucking Y2K days.
Wow. You really do care, dont you?
But, it's nothing uniqe. The to skating often related culture of hip-hop has the same disease... hand in hand with what you've just pointed out, gangsta-bitch-hoo dumbness walks smugly.
Well I enjoyed your rant haha, i don't neccesarily agree with you in alot of the parts but still enjoyed it nonetheless.
I know what you mean about little kids. The kids from about 11-16ish are the dumbest mother fuckers most of the time. They have no concept of the reason that skating is what it is. Like i go onto youtube and it disqusts me how many "sponsor me" videos there are out there. My friend recently asked if i had brought the video (which i haven't even FINISHED yet...) to this local skate shop to get sponsored. I was like first off. A. its not even fucking done yet... and B. no cause i don't really give a fuck. I might bring it over there just so he can watch it and tell me what he thinks of hte editing and production job on it.
The only reason i have been filming for so long now is because i just like to film skateboarding, and create home movies. I've tried getting sponsored.. ONCE. That was way back in the day and when that fell through and i looked kind of like an idiot for even trying (for that shopkeeper!!!) i said fuck this and went back to doing what i do.
Nowadays i generally attempt to bring a camera around because it usually pumps me up to get some of the sickest shit down. Its not like i won't do stuff without it... i just would rather have it there on the big shit, for better and DEFINATELY for worse. I'll post hte video of my fucking up my foot once my friend gives it to me. I will slow motion the hell out of it haha.

I ùsed to skate, altough the only thing I could do was ollie (qùite far actually... For someone that skates for 2 months), but I stopped after a while... Especially because Belgium is quite a skater-unfriendly country.
You can notice it at the base, the fundament of everything already.
As in: THIS (http://www.westkans.be/nl/images/Defauw.jpg)is what our sidewalks are like, EVERYWHERE. And don't be mistaken by the picture, between the cement and each tile there is up to 5 mm in difference.
Sucks (http://home.tiscali.be/milieugezondheid/wmgsn/dossiers/voetpaden/voetpa%204.jpg) alright.
Other example (http://rw-l.nl/blog/images/06042006.jpg). And it's like that almost everywhere.
But lately, I fucking hunger to skate... Yet no one here has a skateboard... No city here has a skatepark... Everyone has an Xbox 360 with Tony Hawks Project 8 (which is great game by the way)
Oh well...
But once again: friggin' SWEET video.
Edit: Oh timedragon, nice video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR1MDBkS9YI) and it proves why Belgium sucks too.
All those things (barricade-thing, plywood, handrail, ...) are IMPOSSIBLE to get here, not even just fucken wood... What dó we have? Stairs. But they're IMMEDIATELY in front of the doors of buildings... So unless you start skating from the inside of the building you can't do shit with those either.
It's one of the many reasons why I want to be Canadian.
What does canadian have to do with anything? haha
Thanks for the compliments

Can't even skate on the streets!
The asfalt is jagged as fuck, and wrecks your wheels in no time. Plus, riding on that crap makes you feel like a vibrator. And that's not good.

It brought the sport a LITTLE more into the lime light. But i'm teliln you what problematic is speaking of has been happening for YEARS... and YEARS. Yeah and BassB is right i remember how many fucking people usd to ask me about darkside slides. I'm like wtf? That trick is pretty fucking gay unless you are Rodney Mullen, like seriously.
But i give all credit were credit is due, i'm sorry problematic tony hawk is RIDICULOUSLY good at skating. You think the only thing he did first was a 900? Man you really don't know anything about the history of skateboarding if thats what you think. Tony hawk invented nearly every vert trick out there. Seriously look it up if you don't believe me. But i know how you feel as it would relate to the commercialization of it.
But that isn't a reason to dislike the sport, just the industry. I used to get pised off once skate shoes became popular. Nobody wore except people who skated. Now skate shops and online sites cater to skate shoe buyers. Oh well, i just don't buy the majority of the bullshit they put out. Hell i don't even know any of the brands nowadays.
But skateboarding has been extremely popular for a very long time, today is no different. ACtually infact i would say skateboarding NOW is most definately ont he down slope out of hte public eye. Seriously.
Oh yeah here is the link to the first full length skate vid i've made. This is my youtube like section or whatever.

here is the leg blast. Ok you gotta watch the actual fall about 5 or 6 times to see exactly what happened. This is almost a complete freak incident. I almost catch teh board and it ends up getting stuck to my RIGHT(thought it was left when it happened) leg well, its upside down but RIGHT before it hits the ground it completes the flip and jets off.
Now there is 2 "hits" to look at. The first inital impact where i slip. You can clearly see i attempt to fall gracefully but my foot sticks and it doesn't fall well, which plunges me forward. The 2nd hit is where it gets nasty. My left leg gets jammed between my body and the ground and literally crushes my foot forward (the sensation of my toes touching my shin) which completely pulled my calf muscle, it gets stuck to where my foot and leg have nowhere to go so my knee completely plants into the ground and i kind of pivot forward and with the rest of my momentem, all weight lands on my left leg.
Thats it completely broken down.
People getting hurt. Amusing. Did it heal well?
Hey, Wolfherz, you need to catch a train to Sweden. Our cities in Skåne is practically designed for skating.
And skating on the downslide? We have at least one school here in the south that teaches skating as a optional extra to their three-year streetdance university program. Not to mention, in Malmö there is this giant skatepark, something like 2000-3000 square meters, and you can go pretty much from beginner to paid showcase performer in it.

Dude I don't know why I watched all four parts of that video. Feels like the biggest waste of time ever. Dude you had the gayest haircut ever :p. But you have inspired me to go for a skate tomorrow. And I might film something these holidays/ get some old footage, for sentimental value; something to hold on to.
Your leg blast didn't look to bad. Except the toe stretch. I saw yes, a violent movement, but not 'toes touch your shin' bad. Still painful, fo sho.
Wolfsherz; yeah looks pretty damn bad. Obviously you can manouvre over cracks like that, but obviously a pain in the but and not good a general street skate. Many old euro towns are like that.. sucks!..
BB.. it was kinda the same 5 years ago. Maybe moreso in America. Recently here, Australia's first 'skate plaza' was built, maybe 6 months ago. Thats when it exploded. In the area of about 20 metres squared, there was about 40 kids (I once counted) skating at a time. It was so fucking packed its not funny. Nowadays its died down to around 20 kids at any time 10 - 6. 'Monster' skatepark was built about 2 years ago and also whored the fuck out of everything.
For the record, THPS1 was released 8 years ago now, I believe October in 1999. Fuck time flies.
tmfreak. Yes Hawk is good, but not RIDICULOUSLY good. Yes he was at the forefront of skating. I know my history. IT was the Dogtown & Z-Boys doing the first aerials in pools. I own the Bones Brigade's 'Search for Animal Chin' on video. I know Hawk was the first to land a 540, switch 540, 720 to fakie, and 900 namely. The lanky cunt can spin. That's just vert though, and vert is basically dead, except for 10 or 20 pros still going at it (although yes, it is still revolutionary (loop, DC super ramp, Burnquists backyard and backyard super ramp, Great Wall of China jump)...I'll admit I am still stunned). But street is just so much better.. it's taking the board to a more urban environment, not some hugely specific vert ramp, I dunno it's just cooler - to hit the streets. The guys that brought street to life were Natas Kaupas, Mullen, and definantly Steve Caballero, among others. What they did was huge too. I'll stand. Both types of skateboarding (vert & street (just main ones im talking about)) went through HUUGE changes through time, but street moreso I would say..(bombing hills, pools, freestyle, tricks, extremely, extremely tech tricks, then to the 'rebel' image and stage, and now; now, mainly going big, with tech here and there, accentuating style. Vert went from pools, to ramps, to both and other structures(more street though) but it was the style and tricks that just changed and changed and changed.
Skateboarding now is slightly on the down slope, in normal media, but not for Cable TV channels and such. It's still massive, and gets some airplay on normal TV. Moreso in America I would say. It gets its mentions when Danny Way pushes it that much fucking further (can you imagine doing the DC super ramp and that fucker of a quarter pipe..even though there's even bigger shit now...) and also when someone gets killed skateboarding. Fair go.
Keep the vids coming, but not at long, more to the point nigga. I know that was more of an experience, a progression, but meh... your recent shit is cooler. Some cool tricks laid down like the boardslides down that quite big rail...i'd pussy out on that one :p...fucking rails. Rails + Lank do not mix, ever.

I crushed my ankle AGAIN. I'm not 100% its my ankle but the left side of my left foot. I was just coming off a bad backside 5-0 on a box and stepped down just really hard i guess in the wrong spot and feels kinda like all my weight just "crushed down" on it.
It fucking SUCKS. I was kicking ass too and i just got back into my groove of rockin. I was planning on filming this weekend but i doubt its gonna happen now because of my foot :bawling:
Has anyone here had any experience with longboarding? It's caught my fancy as something i'd like to try, but i don't have any such skate shops nearby, so i'd like to get some info/recommendations before i travel to find one :)

I see lots of them all the time around campus. Its more about your particular style. (style just being your choice of stuff) cause i would imagine it wouldn't make that much of a difference as long as your getting "name brand" stuff.
Big wheels high abec bearings and whatever size length you want really.
I used to skate a lot ages ago (5 years or so), but never got that good.. I started again a year and a bit ago but stopped about March this year for some reason
I developed my own technique for doing really crazy tricks, it sometimes works, just gotta go for it and hope :P
I've been thinking about getting back into it, I still have my awesome setup of Zero Thomas deck, Phantom 2 trucks, Spitfire wheels and PIG speed star bearings (better than Bones Reds!).
Mullen is god on skateboard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q1U5OPMI2o
Got any fave music for skating to?? Mine's most thrash, particularly Slayer, DRI, Anthrax (old), anything that's got the speed really!!!!

Most definately punk any day of the week. Although there are some select tracks that are nice to listen to due to their usage in skate videos and they remind me of thtings. I.E. Iron Maiden - Hallowed be thy name in the Jamie Thomas welcome to hell part.
THis ankle bullshit really upsets me. My fucking ankle is starting to really piss me off. Maybe i need to start streaching for real. I went through ocs and i had to do extra shit at medical when i went there because they couldn't believe how unflexable my ankles/calfs and all that shit were. Maybe thats why my left ankle although gets "better' never seems to be able to take any ankle shocks anymore.

Shit man, that sucks :(
I fucked both of my ankles early summer last year, my left ankle twisted and cracked at the same time and swelled up like a bitch, and the next day I was walking up some steps and slipped and fucked the right one!! It sucked because I couldn't walk or skate properly for a few months (which is part of the reason I stopped) but they've gotten much better now... New video bitches check it out. Its just a teaser for hte new video.
its called Sick Coke.
And let me fucking tell you its going to be off the fucking wall. I recently saw a bunch of my friends video, and it was fucking nuts. This was a video they did like last year or 2 years ago.
Shit like 360 flip to manual to 180 outs. Kickflip back tails on barriers, kickflip backlips, there was an 11 set that was a 5 flat 6. (it was fucking huge), UBER amounts of badass switch and regular varial heelfips. In short it was sick.
This video will top that 10 fucking fold. I'm still recovering from that ankle blast, (i actually rolled it again like 4 days ago haha) but it won't be long. Granted the weather completely fucking blows here right now. Today its 10 degrees F outside with wind chill of bringing it to 0. Its snowing now and again, so its just fucking cold.
Anyways, i'm not nearly as tech as some of these guys are. I mean the kid that did like all those flip in tricks is just fucking sick. I've only seem him "fucking around" and its ridiculous. It just makes me want to go that much bigger so it kind of evens out haha.
I'm looking at kickflipping this double set. (5 flat 4) Maybe front boarding or 50-50ing this 13 stair handrail.. i got some ideas. Actually thinking about nosesliding this long doubleset handrail that is a Long 6 Long flat to another Long 6. I mean it doesn't seem that hard mostly because its fairly mellow, it just has length and i'm damn good at nosesliding kinks so..... i'll give it a shot.

Some is at virginia tech, some is in fredericksburg virginia, one or 2 shots are in richmond, and i think a few tricks are in eastern north carolina

Interesting video, tm. Especially whatever the hell that was, at the end where he just skids his tail down the stairs.
I've skated off and on for probably 6 years. I'm planning on getting back into it seriously this summer, seeing as though there are about 3 skateparks to choose from within a 10 mile radius of me. I can still do all my tricks I could do before (kickflips, shuvits, manuals, random stupid made up tricks, etc.). And I plan to tackle some tricks on the mini-ramp, as well (I've always sucked at vert).

Yeah i'm not good at ramps. I can "ride them" but i can't do much as far as tricks go, although i can treat them kinda like street and do like 360 flips on them but thats just cause i have those kinda flip tricks on lock on any terrain more or less.
Yeah thats called a firecracker. They've been getting pretty big over the last few years. I wouldn't dare try it. Besides its not for me. Although recently i've been thinking about learning it so i could do them then set up for another set of stairs quicker. Thehre are alot of really nice stair sets around here that i can't access because there is another set before it and not enough time to ollie, then set up then ollie the next one. So either i gotta go fast and coast over it then bust a quick ollie, or firecracker then ollie. I think the latter is the better option.

Tm you always over-exaggerate to the fuckhole. So many skaters do this, it pisses me the fuck off.
It just makes me want to go that much bigger so it kind of evens out haha.

Ok. Post videos when you actually do those tricks.

Wrong. You haven't skated with me ONCE. Man you just don't even know what hte fuck you are talking about. You claim you are "oh so awesome" but i haven't seen one fucking video from you. So?
That shit isn't even that big anyways. Its "big" but its not unreasonable. And don't worry i'll do the shit not out of spite of you just because thats what i do.
You are about hte most hater person out there i swear. You're just like all those other fucktards that ruin skateboarding. Why don't you stop bitching and go fucking skate.
Heck, I never thought I'd post in this thread, but this little guy was just on the news so I thought I'd share it with you. My apologies if it's already on here.

That dog fucking rules. I've seen this before, but i watched a few more clips. Thats called mans best friend.
When it's owner was on tv talking abouthe said he's loved it since he was a pup. He's chase the skateboarders and finally taught himself how to do. He'd ride 30 feet sometimes loving every minute.
I bet it's like a dog hanging it's head out of a car only without the windows in the way.

I think the most badass part of it all is the dog turns where it wants to go and can coast down like small hills following the asphalt. thats bad fucking ass.

That dog is making his owner a few bucks, I'd say. I want to see it go vert!! Anyone remember that squirrel that could water ski, while being pulled by a remote controlled boat? ..now that's a show.. :homer:
Yeah, I remember that. That was cool, too.

Wrong. You haven't skated with me ONCE. I have never claimed to be "oh so awesome", in fact I have stated many times that I am shit. Also, you have seen a video from me. The one of me stacking it down a vert ramp.
You are one of those who are more likely to ruin the spirit of skateboarding. One of those people, who do tricks to show superiority when someone more noob is going for it. Thanks for making it into a competition, I hope you get sponsored. Lets go skate for the sake of getting something filmed.

YA GOT ME. THATS WHAT I DO.
Dude since i've been posting in this thread you've got a complete stick stuck up your ass. Reading former posts. And yes, you did say EXACTLY the same kinda bullshit i said. I never said you said you were now.
Fuck man, you reminded me of all the good times I had with friends (who don't skate anymore ) and we'd just go down to the nearest 8 or grass gap and plug shit down it. Friends im with are pussy, have a whinge about little injuries. Those guys I used to go with were the shit.
Too bad I can't get some of the footage my old friends have of me, we'd all be doing nutters shit. Most dangerous trick I ever landed was a 50/50 on a small stone ( ) ledge, horizontally across 10 stairs, ollied off. Got that on cam too. Friends were burlier. 15 set handrails, 180's down long 10's, etc. Big cunts. However I still loved countless tricks such as b/s 180's down various long, high gaps, just like you were doing. Cool shit nigga.
Not to mention you've been talking shit since moment one too. "Oh you fall too much, oh you never land shit"
Dude i have landed or tried every fuckign thing i've posted on this. You're just a whiney cunt.
You're acting like some sort of fucking hero for the sport when you're the type that just puts everybody down and talks shit. YOU"RE the reason people stop skating. Because youre too fucking good to go out and ride with people if they're younger or if their better than you. you've already posted it like 3 times in this.
Then you started out of nowhere talking shit about pro skateboarders. You are so full of it you're ridiculous.
And also there is nothing wrong with getting shit filmed, because we know how many times i've attempted to get sponsored or my aspirations right? Oh yeah. zero.
Stop bringing just bullshit. If you've got nothing positive in this thread, why don't you stop coming. Bring your fucking beef with whatever the fuck you have somewhere else because its really annoying.
Otherwise shut the fuck up and go skate.

Skaters
I skate A LOT now days. I think the stress from my everyday life has built up enough to put my testosterone level through the roof. Its a good escape for when your pissed and stoned.
My tricks are kickflip, frontside 180 heels, tail and nose slides, 50-50, 5-0s, and workin' on 360 flips. Its all about goin big on street, not sittin' in one spot doin' the same trick for 3 hours.
I hate skaters though cause they bitch a lot.

Frontside heel flips are the shizzneto shit shits.
Man after a day like today i could only fucking agree with you more. Its the ULTIMATE in absolute release and relaxation. I think i honestly feel like i get away from things, and get away from them so much that its not too bad coming back to "reality."
Unforunately my foot is fucked up so i still gotta wait a lil longer. But i'll definately be back and i'll probably start taking it easy till my ankle gets back.
Damn tailslides... don't know why the hell i thought to start trying to build up a trick i'm not too good at when i'm in a transitional still hurt period.

Dude on the tailslides put your back toes on the heelside of the tail when you pop. It makes you do a scooping motion when you twist frontside. You probobly know that though, basic shit.
I get so much stress between work and social life that i get to a point and say fuck everyone and skate. If I slam I look at it like getting into a fight....get pissed and go harder.

trust me i know how to do tailslides haha. That is EXACTLY the thing that took me fucking forever to figure out. (how easy it is to get the correct pop when you put your foot further back)
Bluntslides have comletely helped and pushed me to finally start learning tailslides after all these years. I just need to keep doing them to get better at em. Its just not a stock trick or something i should be doing when i'm coming back from an ankle injury 2 week prior haha.
Man i definately feel you. Back in the day i used to skate for fucking hours by myeslf and just allowed me alot of time to think about things. I don't dig the falls cause when i fall i fall fucking hard sometimes. Especially at the local small park. THis big box i always skate i've eaten shit twice really bad. Both times i hit my elbow when i had already hit it many times in the past. Also hit my face. Ouchers. Basically i would go up to try to nose grind it and i had waxed like the actual box part, for noseslides and front boards, well i would over jump the edging and hte wheels woudl just take off forward and it would just put me in a hairy situation that sucks.
I don't htink i'll nose grind the box for awhile, hell i even did that once on a 50-50. I'll stick with learning front noseslides on it.
There is this ledge i want to front noseslide so bad, its on a video i posted on here with me backnose sliding it. Its tall as shit. It'll look kick ass for the video, especially with the camera hella close up.

I just moved into this new duplex mnd theres this school down the street with two long ledges about 3 feet high and they curve arounmd...I fuckin soaked them in wax and thats my spot...theres a little 6 stair too thats cool when i'm really pissed. I landed a clean fronsde 180 down it last week.
Foot injuries are the worst..and ankle. I tried acid droping off this balcony into a living room at a party and fucked my foot up real bad...the shit was all purple and swollen like a fat kid the next day.
I think skatin' is like total mental shit...as far as brain will over physical capabilities cause when I skated all "hardcore" back in the day I was still deep down inside scared to fall. Nowdays I don't give a fuck. I love the slams...thats the best part
Oh no shit man. And for me it couldn't be more of a mental game. To the point where i'm almost ocd about my skating. For me to do or try almost anything i have to do like a list of shit in my head exactly in order or it doesn't feel right.
I've started shaking that kind of stuff off and i've definately improved as a result. Just one of those.... just say fuck it and do it. It helps. Hence why this kid i know whos 16 whose been skating for like 2 maybe 2.5 years is so fucking good. Hes just a pot head skater kid that just doesn't care haha.
Hes pretty damn good.

You got any tips on 360 flips?
I canbe kinda ocd on a board too cause I try a trick over and over again til I get it right...my moto is if you don't get it after 100 trys, you wernt ment to do it. By 100 I mean 100..I used to kickflip 100 times in a row just to get my pop improved...same thing with grinds/slides, 100 times in a row.
Unfortunatly my life is at an ultimate stress point due to job drama and living bullshit and here in Colorado we keep gettin freezing cold weather and blizzards on a weekly basis. Guess I got my geetar and schwag to release some stress
yeah man 360s is about the most misunderstood trick. You really gotta watch people doing it and understand the fundamentals to do em.
Its ALL scoop near NO flip. Seriously with my fucked ankle how it is, i can still 360 flip but i can't even come close to trying a kickflip.
Basically you gotta put the ball of your back foot in the upper pocket of the board. Its a really weird setup when you first start trying it but you should be able to just stand on it and feel the... weight of your body putting the correct kind of pressure to where you can feel that you don't really have to do much to get it where it needs to go.
This is almost all a backfoot trick like i was saying. I put my left foot like... almost in an regular ollie or big kickflip position. (big being slow flipping, not tall)
I think 360 flips are hella related to impossibles, because since i've started doing impossibles it just feels so similar because of the backfoot action.
