I was wondering if anyone knows how to tell what year a PS-4 Jackson was made?
Also what pickups are you running in it and how do you like them?

Mine is H-S-H (as are they all) with a non-reversed headstock and fret markers in standard position. SN - 1023160. I know many have reversed head stocks with fret marker dots to one side. I don't know if this build style was before, during or after the standard look of my guitar. I picked mine up in a pawn shop so I have no idea as to it's age.

I've read (on ebay!?) that the early 90's are the best built.

I'm putting a Super Distortion in the Bridge and a Super 2 in the neck connected with a Megaswitch E. Ignoring the single coil. Until they come in the mail I have the bland stock pups.

I owned a year '00 PS-2, and my other guitarist owns a PS-4, no idea what year his is.

I don't know if records are kept of non-USA Jacksons or not. If I still had mine I would compare the Serial number with yours to maybe give some kind of idea...but I think they discontinued the Performer series not long after I bought mine, so chances are yours is earlier than mine was anyway. Not very useful, sorry!

Thanks, at least now I have an idea when production stopped. I scoured the web and haven't found any Japenese serial number posts.

Some serial # comparisons would help - so would some descriptions.

Well, I could ask my guy for you, some details about his in terms of when he bought it etc.

I know it's a reversed headstock, offset dot inlay, trans black, and I doubt very much that it's an early one.
