i have a shitty strat copy that i use for E tuned thrasing in my band (saving up for an Ibanez S series to do that though).
an Ibanez RG drop B tuned (my main guitar in my band)
and an Encore acoustic that is E tuned most of the time.

As my main guitar i operate a parker p-38 with an EMG 81 in the bridge postision. I cant complain about anything on this guitar, i can get a decent metal, a decent clean, and a decent classic rock sound. The neck is thin, the action is low, and it gives me alot of options with the piezos and the emg.
My bad ass piece of shit guitar is a PRS santana SE. I bought it at gc a while back because it was 150. It was so low because it had a little paint chip in it. I ended up stripping the paint and getting a pretty decent wood finish. The paint is still around the edges so it has kinda an original look. I was bored one day and i never used it so i took an old gibson fixed bridge and put it in there. The santana SE has a tremelo system on it. SO uh....theres a huge gaping whole now. When i finally got it all dont i noticed the action was pretty uneven and high on the higher frets so i had to rout a hole into where the bridge fits so the action and intonation was where i needed it.
I also have a left handed takamine acoustic that i switched around to make it right handed. i had to wire one of those stationary dean markleys in it to get it to work correctly because i couldnt the wire the old pickup in due to some of the work i previously did.

you say the santana prs was 100 bucks from guitar center cause there was a chip in the paint?? thats how i got my amp.....its an 80 watt marshall and i took a pocket knife to the vynal and made a little rip in it....i got that amp for $200:D :p
(i know its wrong but i dont regret it)

The Jackson Warrior XT's are nice. Some of them come with Kahler tremolo's instead of Floyd's, which is even better!
I think I want to try out one of them magic kahler tremolo's... haneman uses one, so it's probably pretty good stuff...

The good thing about Kahler tremolo's is that you don't need to adjust the springs if you want to tune higher, or lower, or get a thicker or thinner gauge string, for it will level itself.
You can bend up way higher because the cavity is very deep. More sustain added to your Guitar because it is heavy duty, unlike the Licensed Floyd Rose. (Although Original Floyd Rose's have the heat treated steel bottom for the Sustain part).
Now, I'm talking about the "Kahler Pro" or the "Kahler Flyer"...the Kahler "Spyder" (the one that comes with the Warrior XT, is Floyd Rose-like, and it works like a Floyd Rose, just different look, and name.)
I believe Jeff Hanneman uses the Flyer. The Pro, and Flyer, are both the same I think, I don't see a difference in them.
woh, so you mean you can tune your guitar in D or C# without having to fuck with the bloody springs on the trem?? and without having a banana shaped neck??
are these things sold seperatly and can you replace a floyd for a kahler without extra drilling and stuff?
yeah about the floyds, most are fake, like on ibanez etc... I didn't ever try a real one I think.. well, maybe I wouldn't even notice the diffrence, I'm a bassplayer not a real guitarplayer.. but guitar is also fun.
The Crying Orc
2002-08-30, 17:15
No, your neck won't get messed up, the Kahler adjusts to what the tension is on the strings.
You do not have to mess with springs.
You know, Kahler tremolo's where first made for Basses? what do you think that kind of bridge is on Les Claypools (Primus) Bass?
You can't replace your Guitar with a Kahler until you drill a bigger cavity, because as you see, it's not the same shape as a Floyd Rose.
And if your body doesn't even have a Floyd Rose cavity, you have a lot of work to do.
ofcourse it has :D
but that's fucking amazing man, are these things expensive? I hate fucking around with those floyd springs...
I know les claypool, but I don'tlike his style and I don't like his band :D
I don't really see the point in having a trem on a bass, but it's probably fun to do a slide on a 5-er, E slide down to 12th and B slide up to 1 while using a trem :P :P :P
whoooooomMBBBbBOOoamP :)
The Crying Orc
2002-08-31, 12:59
I don't like Primus either...I just brought that up with the Kahler thing..
Kahler's should be around the same price as ORIGINAL Floyd Rose's.
Unless you want to buy the cheap version of Kahler's.....they're called "Schaller".
I wonder if it'll easily fit in a Jackson dinky 27' hmmm...
schaller, where have I heard that name before, ohyeah the tuners, and I've got schaller straplocks on my stickerbass
The Crying Orc
2002-09-01, 13:36

Schaller bridegs are fuckin awesome. i got one on my stealth and it stays in tune FLAWLESSLY and i absolutly kane the hell outta my bridge like dumping it and hitting harmonics with the slack of the string, doent go outta tune at all..
then I wonder what a Kahler will do :D

I HAVE A IBANEZ JEM555 (STEVE VAI) TUNED IN E
AND I HAVE A CUSTOM (HOME MADE) GUITAR WITH 2 EMG 89 (NECK AND BRIDGE)
TUNED IN WHATEVER IT FEEL LIKE
QUESTION: ON MY CUSTOM GUITAR I HAVE A SHITTY NON-LOCKING TREMOLO WICH
ALWAYS DE-TUNED MY GUITAR. SO I DO HAVE A FLOYD ROSE CAVITY IN IT. IS IT REALLY COMPLICATE TO HAVE A KAHLER TREMOLO INSTALLED ON IT?
I used to play esp kh-2 but now I'm all into IBANEZ!
-the cheap ones sucks though!
I have a JEM7DBK and a 7-string universe 777PBK
plus an old esp eclipse custom
and a wasburn
fuckin' rocks.....thats it
hey delete, it's not that hard to fit a kahler in there, but it just has to fit, in depth and shit, you know.....
well its pretty fucking neat, a kahler tremolo kicks fucking ass, it's even better than a floyd!

My main preforming Axe is a Gibson Gothic Flying V with Brite wires (9-46). It has a GREAT SOUND to it and but I think when I get the Gibson Flying 67, I will make it a secondary stage guitar
My main practice guitar is a Gretch(I don't know the model cause it was an heirloom from my dad. He bought it in '81.) But it has DiMarizo pickups and britewires as well and it sounds GREAT. I think I would use it for ballads on Stage cause it doesn't have much of a bass heavy sound as the V when it's clean

that's one sick axe
Schecter C-1 that I put a pair of Seymour Duncan Invaders in. This has become my mainstay guitar. I love the way it plays, very smooth...fast neck and because it has a fixed bridge it stays in tune. I want to get one with a set neck. Working on that next. I have had a Gibson Les Paul Studio, a couple of standard (fat and traditional setup) Stratocasters, a couple of Squire strats, three Kramers (two Strikers and a Berreta...from way back in the day, can you say 1985?) Several acoustics, my favorite was an Ovation. I have no idea what model. I traded an old Peavy bass for it. I play through a Digitech GNX3 and a Fender Champion 30. That GNX3 is the shit. Even though I hate tremolo bridges, I WILL get an ESP Kamikaze (ala George Lynch) and an Ibanez Satriani model (JS100 I think). Just because they are my heros.

Is it your only guitar? How does the tremolo hold up? I really liked it, I'm partial to archtop guitars, they just look so much better in my opinion. The black forest finish is sweet, there was a cobalt blue one I saw also, but I didn't like it as much as the black forest one.

nope, i've got 5 or 6 other guitars. The DKMG is the only, ONLY, ONLY guitar i haven't had to work on. Even when i am messing with the tuning and stuff, the bridge doesn't get to bad and i know its only temporarily so its fine. The floyd rose is extremely nice, it may be a pay in the ass but oh it is such a pay off when you have everything perfect on it.

any way, i have grown to respect my warlock once again, now that i've installed an EMG-85 in the bridge position. now i cant put my guitar down, cuz i love it so much. the reason i hated it before was because the fret board was peeling of the neck and that forced me to raise the action to the point where it was hard to play. but then i did a hack-job on it and now, with a little bit of crazy glue, the neck is fine. EMG'S KICK ASS!!!!!!.. i want black hardware now....:D

i just got my jackson DKMG fixed up with EMG 81 and 85's (before it had EMG HZs). God that shits nice. I took one of the EMG HZs (since they do have a nice low bassy clean sound) and now i've got it in my ibanez. I've been running stock pickups (2 single coils and 1 humbucker) so i thought i'd dress it up a bit and get that nice bassy sound from the EMG HZ, so now i've got 2 great sounding guitars.
I just got a B.C. Rich platinum series Ironbird. Was going to put EMG's in my Jackson
SL-3 but their taking forever to get in . Been waiting for 4 months.

To get this thread back on topic, I use a Vester. My best guess at what it is, is that it is a Concert Stage Series something or other. I dunno. It has a PRS style tremelo bridge copy that is a bitch to fix. Cost me $300 AUS second hand. I put it through a 15 watt Samick amp. pretty average amp, but does the job.
I have a Jackson USA Soloist-1 tuned to E, and a BC Rich Jr. V Platnium tuned down to B, Bb, or A depending on what I'm playing.

I use a cort strat imitation, that is tuned to what ever i want. it has an non-locking trem-system (wilkinson) and it plays wonderfull and has exactly the right tone for Metal. i dont know the exact type, couse i baught it second hand for 500 DM (for about 250$) but my guitar teacher says it is worth at least 400$

I have an Ibanez GRX20 so take THIS all u pplz!!! :flame:
haha just kidding, my guitar is so cheap, but the sound is WICKED SICK because it's not just a cheap little GRX20, it's a cheap little GRX20 with a kick ass Seymour Duncan Dimebucker treble pickup that I had installed custom. I made a few recordings of cover songs whcih you can see on www.musictx.com/nocturnalsun in which I use my In Flames-ish distortion from my Zoom 505II effects pedal. It's really good for what it costed and I'd say its at least 5 times better than what I paid for it. I'm considering getting an ESP flying V model soon, though, if they still make them. if you want to see my guitar, just go to www.freewebs.com/nocturnalsun

I currently have an Ibanez rg 120 series, black, with a maple fretboard. I'm tuned at standard E right now, but
I usually tune around a B when it comes to death metal. For black metal, I usually tune between D and E. I have 14 years experience in the guitar field. I'm also looking for other bandmates to get some kind of death or black metal group going here. I have some songs of my own I've wrote, plus a bunch of lyrics written as well.

only $150. only scratches & one replaced tuning knob are on it, and they don't stick out much. The pickup toggle cuts out every now & then also, but it hardly ever happens and it only takes a tiny shake to knock it back. sounds good 2 me, what do yall think?

For playin gigs/recording with my band I use an Ibanez RG570. I also have a Epiphone SG but I broke the neck on that when I lost my temper with it. I have a guitar I built myself I split the bridge Humbucker so I can run it as a single or double, the middle p/u (hotrail) is wired out of phase, theres an on/off button on it too for Tom Morello type stuff. I have a couple of old dinky pieces of shit for using when playin Carcass and Crowbar and that real low tuned stuff.

2003-11-10, 17:10
I play a NJ Beast. This guitar is THE shit....except for some of the components it was built with. The tone is killer, and I love the design, but I've only had it for about 10 months now, and the volume knob is already about to take a shit, and a tension spring popped off my rythm pick up (which is holy hell to fix). My problem was I couldn't afford to lay down 2k for a hand built one. I guess you get what you pay for.

right you are... retard :p just kidding... however, My old $200 Ibanez GRX20 statistically whoops easily a $500 BC Rich's ass. When you buy BC Rich non-customshop models, you basically are paying for the look, because the tone is shit. I've tried out several BC Rich models in that range (which is all I can afford) and I've found that not a one of them stands up to the Ibanez tone for what they cost. The pickups aren't wound as good either. overall, I think BC Riches are just for show and I have found tons of people who agree with me. Actually, my friend Justin has a $300 Ibanez AX model guitar and an $1100 Gibson SG. The Ibanez actually plays better than the SG!!! I was surprised, but I trust Ibanez big time now. I actually had to give back the Dean I posted awhile ago because there were extra expenses I didn't see involved, so I gave it back to the owner before i paid a cent (it had a defective pickup switch and the intonation on the Floyd Rose was off quite a bit, not to mention it didn't have a case which has to be custom-ordered for $150). I went and bought an Ibanez RG321 and I am damn happy. The tone is superior and plugged in and distorted, it's crunch is deep and tight with the Dimarzio pickups. I love it. Even the clean tones sound great with 5 pickup selections.
basically, I swear by Ibanez because as a jazz/metal/classic rock/black metal/classical guitar player, I need a guitar that's well rounded in those categories. It's the best for what it cost, imo. I will have pics up later tonight of the monster that is my RG :D

You must mean RG35x then, because the 321 model doesn't come with an edge-pro. I loathe floyd roses and any of their bastard offspring :) they're useless to me and my non-FR/Edgepro guitars stay in tune a heluva lot longer than a FR for some reason. I was going to get an RG350dx originally, but it had an edge pro and so does the 370 so i got the 321.

o yea I miss it soo much... I miss having to scramble through my drawer to find an allen key to unlock them, then tune it and retune it and retune it and retune it because the slightest move gets it off tune, and of course i can't forget chopping off the balls on the strings and setting them, holding that damn little square thing, and turning the allen key at the same time. :p
They're a pain and don't do anything for me, so I'd just lock the FR if i had one.

True, but you can always replace the shitty guts with quality goods. If it looks awsome, and sounds like shit, you can always fix the guts, but if it sounds great and looks like shit, that's about the best look you're going to get with that great sounding guitar...

I just love flat LPs. That archtop is cool, but mm.. flat.. it seems to let the solos sing so freely.. but it's probably my imagination.

Bronze is the cheapest level of guitars BC Rich makes. i think it goes... Bronze, Platinum, NJ, Custom. Custom, being the best.
i gotta les paul copy and it was sunburst....i sanded it and sprayed it gold and drew shit on it....i love the action and my phat ass strings....13-56's...i hate thin ass strings that u cant bash..
most of the time its tuned to z....

i have a crappy 7-string jay turser, man what a piece of crap, i have a red electric that says sigma on the headstock, but i always thought sigma was an acoustic maker, and im currently at work on a Randy R. style v, but i tweaked the design slightly for a personal touch, angled out the back for my thigh size, and its got like 8 different woods in just the body, im gonna get to work on the neck soon, cant wait to see her whens shes all finished, im 16 btw and ive never worked in a wood shop before so haha this might take ma a while
If you some advice check out www.mimf.com there very helpful and knowledgeable over there

I have a shitty Jay-Turser with a really shitty bridge. It's hard to play anything on it. But it was only 200$ CAN (130 US) so broken as I am, I couldn't resist. You can't find cheaper.

True, but you can always replace the shitty guts with quality goods. If it looks awsome, and sounds like shit, you can always fix the guts, but if it sounds great and looks like shit, that's about the best look you're going to get with that great sounding guitar...
(but in any light, I'd choose sound over looks any day)
if it looks like shit you can always refinish it :)

No, I love Gibsons too. I have four now. And I am posting here again since I got those four.
I have a Gibson Flying V 67 reissue in Heritage Cherry as my main performing guitar and practice guitar. I love it, because it is very comfortable. It feels like an old friend when I play it. I keep it in Standard E and play a lot of thrash metal and it's bridge pickup (the Gibson 500t), has the highest output of ALL Gibson humbuckers so I can thrash it out a LOT with that V.
I have a Gibson Gothic Flying V which used to be my main Guitar but since the 67 V, I have put that Axe in Standard D. It is REALLY bass heavy for some reason. Even when I use the bridge pickup the bass rings in clearly. I'd use it just for hard and heavy songs because the neck pickup is too bassy for a clean sound and the bridge pickup makes the the clean sound awful.
The third is a black Gibson Les Paul Studio which I travel around with and practice while away. I guess it would be considered my secondary guitar because I leave that in Standard E as well.
Fourth is a 1984 Gibson Explorer in a yellowed white and a Kahlar tremolo. I got it off ebay for 600. I wanna work on it a little bit (as in the post, giving my guitar the works), but as of now I tune it a half step down.
Well, thats it.

Hey people. I just got an Ibanez EX series guitar yesterday. It's tuned at a B right now with 12's on there. My other guitar is an Ibanez RG 120 series guitar that I used for everything before, but since I got the other one, I'll stay tuned between a D and E for Black Metal, and the newer one for Death Metal Only!..:[

ahh stop! i'm trying to forget that gibson makes such ugly guitars :D lol nah, they're nice guitars, too. but if i got anything but another les paul, it'd only be an SG. my les paul special is kind of inbetween a LP and SG, though.. i think it's just about perfect. slim 60s taper neck, flat body, no freakin annoying pick guard. if only the pickup switch was in a convenient spot.
cheers to gibsons though

Freeze if you do have/get a Jacksons Warrior i strongly advise you to get EMG 81/85 installed, it makes it sound so much better, the hz muddy up to much on the bottom strings, but once you get an 81/85 setup you have one mean fucken axe :flame::angry:
