View Full Version : 80's Thrash

Blizzard Beast

I've been thinking of getting into some 80's thrash lately. Kind of going back to the roots of metal sort of thing. Any suggestions on some really good bands to check out? I heard some Overkill lastnight and I thought it was really good. Dunno if you guys would classify that as thrash though. Anyway, any and all suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanx in advance,

Well, there's this one thrash band from the 80's who I think is pretty good. They're from California, and I think they're still around now. They had this Italian drummer, pretty good. Now, what the fuck was their name? Hmm, something about killing, I think. Killer? No, uh.... somebody help me out here.

slayme_returns
2002-08-06, 20:20
I don't think it was Killer, it was probably Murderer or somethin.

There was the one with the bald jew guitar player too, who the fuck was that?

Murderer doesnt really sound right, but maybe...

Oh, and the one with the bald jew is something like Ebola, I think.

Wasnt there one with a redhaired singer/guitarist and a shitty-ass drummer?

megadeath?
dave mustaine is a faggot
the ONLY reason megadeath is good "AT ALL" is because Marty Friedman joined and he has turned them from fucking gay, to just plain gay.

OpethRules

Metallica's old stuff pre black album was considered thrash.....

um, metallica, megadeth, and slayer's 80's stuff is great!

Yes, it did. If you dont like megadeth, u basically dont like thrash, because they're one of the top thrash bands of all time. Your entitled to ur opinion, but in the future, dont start by saying "they suck" and not saying anything else. It's best to back ur opinions with facts, analogies, etc.

Ah I totally forgot about possessed. I will pick up some kreator and exodus. Which albums are the best out of thier career? Also is Saxon any good? Keep'em coming.

Oh and not trying to sound like a cunt but I asked for some 80's thrash bands. I didnt ask for you guys to flame eachother about if Megadeth sux or not. Whether you like it or not; Megadeth have been an influence on the metal we listen to today. If you don't like them then thats fine. Dont listen to them and keep your nasty opinions to yourself. It's ok to state opinions just dont be a cuntface about it.

PS. Is Sodom any good?

PS. Is Sodom any good?

Saxon is not 80's thrash per se. Sort of NWOHM stuff.

Sodom is good. Destruction, Anthrax & Kreator are the other big ones from that time.

Might like older Testament as well...

Lord Arioch
2002-08-08, 06:30
for Kreator try the albums Coma of souls a true masterpiece
or Endless pain
Pleasure to kill
Terrible certainty
Extreme aggression
Cause for conflict
Violent revolution

the others aren't really trash

for songs try

Coma of souls
people of the lies
terror zone
hidden dictator
mental slavery
Flag of hate
under the guillotine
living in fear
awakening of the gods
Terrible certainty
servant in heaven king in hell...

Oh and I forgot about Coroner

EXHORDER

This is the band that influenced Pantera's CFH. People say that Pantera influenced them but even though Pantera's debut was in 1983 and Exhorder's debut was in 1984, Pantera were playing the glammy stuff with the Terry Lawrence guy (I think that was his name but I could be wrong) on vox and Exhorder were playing the southern thrash style that Pantera perfected when Phil joined the band. He was a big fan of Exhorder.
