I was just wondering why people dislike Varg's vocals so much.
I liked them on Burzum/Aske. Not that much on Det Som Engang Var
because he just sings too much. The thing with his vocals is that they

hmm. i love norther's vocals! along with In flames(old), Death, and i think fear factory has great vocals ESPECIALLY on demanufacture. Burton sings good i think. while we're on the subject, my FAVORITE vocals are either mithotyn's on "king of the distant forest", or all Summoning vocals, they are so soothing.

But i really dont like Burzum, six feet under, immolation, or slayers vocals. and i hate metallicas new vocals as much as the new sound.

Your tongue plays a big part in the process. Like say when growling (the proper way, not with your throat) try to create a higher pitch using your voice. Because when you growl, it's mainly just a deep exhaul magified with you voice. If you manipulate your voice into like say a scream, it combines with your growl. That's the best way I can put it. I found out how to do it while singing Dead By Dawn by Deicide, so it just came to me.

Sure it could. Both the guitar tone and vocals on that album dissapointed me. I mean, he has a great clean voice, and a pretty good growl, but he's not the end all be all of vocalists.

You know there's a big difference between bad vocals and disliking a vocal style. If you don't like growling, it doesn't mean all growlers suck. If you don't like it, then you are a lot less qualifited to make that judgement than someone who avidly listens to growling. Just becuase you don't like it, it doesn't mean it sucks.
