Yeah it's definitly terrible. I somehow managed to aquire one of their CDs, i can't quite remember the name, but it was some of the worst sounding shit i've ever head. Everything was horrible from the vocals, to the guitar tone, to the production. Fast drumming though, but it's about as ear pleasing as scratching nails on a chalk board

Wow you must really know a lot about Absu seeing as you can't even remember what you heard. Shitty black metal? I think not. These guys are on the forefront of the black metal scene in the United States.

Immortal's newer albums are of a cleaner production, but personally some of their best work came early on. I like everything that they have released. For the new style check At the Heart of Winter and old check Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism. The guitar work on At the Heart of Winter is really good.

I'm a huge Black Metal fan, but I don't like Absu at all. I have the album Tara, and in my opinion it's nothing special at all.

The demo was death metal with super shit production.

absu never heard em but they have a real gay name.

so far it seems most ppl who commented on Absu here havent actually taken enough time to listen to them and read the lyrics, which are in fact masterpeices. Proscriptor is an incredible drummer and its even more impessive here because he does vocals aswell. Blastbeats and cybals are amazing. I own all of their cds and Tara is probably the fastest and most unique. Because most people dont take the time to read the lyrics and run over the songs not many people truely appreciate them. Shaftiel and Equitant are also great guitarists/bassists and i encourage more people to listen to them. ofcourse this is my opinion

I own The Sun of Tiphareth by Absu

Its murky musical feel and their lyrical content have made me appreciate Assyrian Mythology and all its richness.

Proscriptor's performance on the album renders the running joke about drummers being the dudes who hang out with musicians, rather untrue... He steers the direction of the music measure after measure in such a profound way, so that it follows suits his expression, which I feel in the gut each time.

I love the musical arrangements throughout the album and the way they focus a single theme played by an instrument or the vocals and make the rest of the band revolve around it. I don't care if it's been done before, it's done extremely well.

The way they threw in the Our Lust for Lunar Plains puts your patience to the test, but it was done deliberately to break your aggrivation for extreme repetition, so that you can identify its purpose better.

Overall, I say it's a great album, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to hear the murkiness of Assyrian mythology so vividly displayed in metal.
