I know there have been threads about this but all of the links are no longer working...

I am in a woods class and for one of the projects, we have to build something unique. I chose a guitar. I have a design and i know the woods that i might use (mahogany or bubinga for body and ebony for neck) but i am just asking for advice on how to go about this. I am thinking ill probably put EMG 81/85 in, and Id like a floating bridge but not neccesary. id just like some advice.

Any help would be apreciated.

Don't make a neck through for your first guitar, keep it simple, a hardtail isa better bridge idea....

Keep It Simple

Also you might wan't to buy a preslotted radiused fretboard from a company I think Warmoth do this the extra cost is worth it...

DeathCS will come to the rescue.

projectguitar.com = god

http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/ = godlier

I wouldnt do a trem for the first time, and warmoth is a great place to get supplies, building a very nice neck and fretboard would be very hard without experiance.

in addition to the advice above, if i were you id try getting a hold of a book or two, that way you can refer to it whilst working on the guitar and youve got nice glossy pics to see if youre on the right track.
