Try using index, middle, pinkie, that's how I do it, just take practice to get it going smoothly.

I do it using pulloffs, just because i can do it faster that way than alt picking.
Its just practise man, start slower and program your hand to do it.

Just start it slowly. I can do it pretty much without a thought now due to metronome excersizes.

Exactly. Just shift up one fret then back every four notes. You can use pulloffs but it doesn't sound half as good as alternate picking, just take time to get it down slow then gradually speed up.

Thats pretty easy to finger. Start with your middle finger hit 1st and 2nd 4 with your pinkie, and the rest use your Ring and middle fingers. This way you can move your fingers where they need to be fast. Try learning to hover your fingers over the notes. Thats the easiest way to learn and to play it fast.
G - ---------------3-2--
D - ---------3-2--------
A - ------4-------------
E - 2-4-----------------
M P P R M R M
M= Middle P= Pinkie R= Ring fingers

I play it -
G - ---------------3-2--
D - ---------3-2--------
A - ------4-------------
E - 2-4-----------------
I-R---R--M-I--M-I
Just coz I find it easier to roll a barre (on the 4th fret) with my ring finger.
But i guess how ever is easiest for you.

I say pinkie is reserved for fast 4+ riffs or 5+ moderate riffing...you can use your first 3 fingers and avoid having to use your pinky on parts that don't really need it.
