Guitarist Erik Rutan has announced his departure from MORBID ANGEL in order to devote himself entirely to HATE ETERNAL.

"Being in MORBID ANGEL for the past nine years has been the greatest time of my life," Rutan said in a statement. "To play in my favorite death metal band of all time has been a tremendous honor.

"I want to thank [MORBID ANGEL guitarist] Trey [Azagthoth] and [drummer] Pete [Sandoval] for all the great years and all they have done for me, and all the fans who have supported me and will hopefully continue to support me in the future. It is now time for me to stand on my own two feet with HATE ETERNAL."

Damn... does this mean the end of Morbid Angel? Now they're only two. I don't mean to bitch or anything but two is... well... let's just say it isn't very crowded if you know what i mean.

I know Rutan wasn't that important in the band, Trey is the leader but still, Rutan contributed in terms of leads and riffs.

The real question is: will King of all kings be the deathmetal release of the year?

There have been and will be strong contenders from Nile,Immolation,Malevolent Creation,Cannibal Corpse,Arch Enemy,...



Also: does anyone know the band Council of the Fallen? It's another deathmetal band Derek Roddy plays in right now,they sound very good ,death with black influences. Really good drums too. I ordered the cd on import,should have it in a few weeks.

Well, everyone knows how I feel about Nile its nothin personal I just don't dig 'em. Same way with Immolation, not too big on 'em even though I know that upsets a few of you to the point of wanting to shoot me(memnoch). I love Malevolent Creation, but if they continue on the stale path they've had the past few releases I have my doubts. They do surprise occasionally, Envenomed was much much better than the few preceding it. Cannibal Corpse always rules, and I'll keep my opinions on Arch Enemy to myself. So I guess what I'm tryin to say is Hate Eternal so far is ruling the year.




btw, never heard of that band Disciple but i'm interested.

i wouldnt be able to buy it right from the cd store, but they have a thing where i could search for the cd i want, print out a slip, give it to them and have them order it. then all i have to do is wait a couple weeks or so and they cd will come in then i just pay for it when it comes in. i'll be looking forward to hearing it too.
