I decided to have an AIM conversation with that "MetalShredder" fellow last night. And he was good. Granted, I don't think he is as good as he says, but he can play fast.

And that's about it.

He offered to play something he wrote, and he started these pop-punk chord progressions :rofl: with various thrash riffage thrown in. Nothing striking whatsoever ... This is a point I wanted to make but did'nt bother : MetalShredder may play 16 notes a second ( its not as hard as he would have you believe, once I sat down and did it ), but listen to a band like Mastodon, and take a song like "March Of The Fire Ants" --- he can't write that. Yeah, he can play it twice as fast and behind his back ... but he'll never write it.

Myself, I've been playing 4-5 months, and have been practicing diligently nine hours daily. You can look in the "Recording Riffs" thread, I've got a couple of tracks :

johnholland876 : I've got one song that features me picking sixteenth notes at 250 bpm.
MeTaLsHrEdDeR : OMG LOLORZZZ SO EASY!!1!!1!!! ANYONE CAN DO THAT!1!!1!!!

And yet this is the guy who admitted that all he could play in that amount of time ( 4-5 months ) was "Crazy Train" ... bah. Yes, this guy is certainly fast, and clean, but as I told him if you go to an international guitar despot you'll find some 10 year old who is doing the same thing, only faster and cleaner.
