Any new gigs in the UK? Post 'em here!
A few upcoming London gigs:
Morbid Angel - April 19th - Mean Fiddler
Testament - May 8th - Koko
Vader - June 17th - Underworld
So, who's going to the MA show on the 19th?

I would, but I'm ashamed to say that I don't yet own any Morbid Angel albums D:

Cephalic Carnage are touring soon. I made a thread about it here but it sank without trace. I guess Cephalic aren't that popular amongst Brits.
morbid angel are good but i d rather see vader, i ve wanted to see them so much, hopefully they ll play graspop.
I ve never heard cephalic carnage, anygood?

Very good indeed. Stoner/doom/grind is about the best description of them as their albums tend to be very varied.
haha, john have you heard about sal from whiplash trying to get hate eternal onto a night?

Nope, it'd be a pretty decent show though.

I WENT TO THAT MORBID ANGEL GIG! THEY COMPLETELY DESTROYED!!! Vincents voice is better than ever- like a combination of the high stuff from Altars with the raw aggressiveness of Covenant (none of that weak shit like on Domination/Entangled)
and yes there is another very good gig coming up....
7th September - "Harvest Festival 2005" - Nile, Unleashed, Behemoth, Hate Eternal , Soilent Green, Blood Red Throne - @ KOKO (aka camden palace)
sounds bloody amazing

Bah, I didn't go either - I had a fancy dress party to go to that I agreed to attend about 6 months ago.
BARGH! FUCK BALLS!! I missed Speedhorn and due to that i missed a night of getting stonned with one of my best friends, I traded it with spending a night with my girlfriend who decided to revise...leaving me with my sister...and the flu. Fuckin' flu.

Simon Pegg should do stand up. Jack Dee is a classic, but not as intelligent IMO.

Anyway, hopefully the swan'll be playing it....gonna watch the first half then bugger off to get the last of Detonation's set. Shall be a good night hopefully.

Some great gigs coming up in London -
DragonForce - 22nd Sept - Barfly
Decapitated/Detonation etc - 24th Sept - Underworld
Nevermore - 25th Sept - Scala
I'll definitely be at the Decapitated gig, who else is going? The other two gigs are a possibility.
i'm going to the one in liverpool tomo, i'm guessing you were asking about the london one though......meh.
That was fucking amazing dude, John - you're a tit for not going.
Anyway, Detonation have had to pull out due to bus difficulties. We got some local band supporting which was cool....anyway. Dam were dicks. I shouted out some bits of "go head, you rule" and he replied "shut up mate, dick head".....dick head to you dude.
Anyway, Decapitated fucking owned....the new vocalist is a fucking beast. Have fun in london dude.

blizzard_beast
2005-09-24, 16:45
Well, I just got back from the gig. It was amazing, I mainly went for Detonation and Decapitated, Gorerotted and especially Dam aren't my thing.
Dam was fucking shit. Aside from the awful music, the vocalist had absolutely zero stage presence, and the guitars were extremely muddy to the point of just being random noise.
Detonation!! Wow, these guys were amazing. Awesome awesomeness. Haha enough said.
I missed a lot of the Gorerotted since I was chatting to the Detonation guys. First off I met Koen (vocals/guitar), who was a real nice chap. Other than the whole he said a lot of his influences are the Swedish medolic death bands. (ie. At the Gates). He then said they're planning to tour (with Gore as support) the UK in February/March to make up for the five gigs they missed on this tour.
I then had a chat with Thomass (drummer) who said that this was the first time the band had met their label manager! Haha, I then asked him about his opinion on triggered drums, and he mentioned that he disliked them, but the label forced them to use a studio which only allowed for triggered drums. He said that he originally wanted a pure acoustic drum tone. After that, he said he was also influenced by the Swedish melodic death bands, but that he was into everything, from Depeche Mode to Morbid Angel, and that he especially liked "rhythmic" bands. He then offered to have the band sign the album I just bought (An Epic Defiance), so then whilst everyone signed it I got to meet the rest of the band, again, really nice guys.
Oh and to the Dutchies, they're from Utrecht!
Decapitated was also pretty good, but I prefered Detonation.

Pros? Oh man don't get me started. I'm warning you. Why else would I post their dates in this thread (one that doesn't concern me going to gigs) if I didn't think it was some of the best shit I have ever heard. This may get ya though: Christian from Necrophagist was in this band before he joined Necro. Not quite the same band, but these guys match Necro in terms of musicianship as far as I'm concerned. And destroy them when it comes to style......

Not sure if you intended UK to cover Northern Ireland too, but Mourning Beloveth are due to play in Belfast on February 11th, at the Rosetta bar, for anyone who might be interested ;) Getting to Belfast isn't much of a problem from the UK mainland. For a start, who are all these people from Bristol? Do I know you? Yeah shame about Necrophagist. I think the booking agent was a but suspect, apparently most of the venues were a bit shit. But the main reason for the UK tour being pulled (or so I've heard) was simply that there was too much going on, both in the UK that month, and also for Necrophagist with the US/Canadian tour, and the facxt they had already toured for a while with Bolt Thrower.
Speaking of whom... anyone going to their shows?

Yeah, Necrophagist have pulled out of 4 UK tours in a row now, although someone told me that the April tour wasn't even confirmed by the band, their booking agent went out on a limb apparently, but even so. Of course the first 2 tours were due to illness, but it simply doesn't look like we are going to see them any time soon eh.
Did anyone make it to the Hate Eteranl gig? I'm told the turnout was pretty poor...

My info on the skinless gig was from relapse.com, and considering that they made a mistake about venues last time Nile came round, I can't be sure.
Definately not sensible to play on the same night as MA in the same city in a different venue in any case.
The mean fiddler website doesn't list the support for MA.

edit: ^ oh and I heard that the Skinless london date is the 23rd (not 22nd) and its at the Electrowerkz, (not Purple Turtle), coz my mates' band Trench Head are opening. and this is very recent ( as in earlier today) so I dunno some rescheduling must have happened.

I want to see cryptopsy not fucking celtic frost
I think it was Cryptopsy who changed venue, and they're co-headlining anyway. There's not much sense in them playing on the same night in different places - you'd have low turnout at both. Have you checked the start time? I bet it starts early and Cryptopsy will play the same amount of time as they would have anyway.

Necrophagist were fucking great last night. I didn't realise how tiny Mohammed really was! The band turned up really late though, and it felt like much more was planned if Necrophagist had shown up on time.
All the bands which filled the seven hour pre-Necrophagist slot were awful. Bunch of hard/emo core shit which drew in all the androgynous cunts. The worst support I've ever seen.

Aw, I would go but that's too far travel. I think I'll wait 'til they got things running with the new album and they tour it.

There are like 4 bands I'd want to see if I went. £150 or so for a ticket isn't worth it.
