I haven't seen many Black Metal bands live, but I would have to say out of all that I have seen, Dark Funneral was horrible. I couldn't take them serriously, they just looked old and goofy. And the singer kept saying "sweet" like he was twelve or something. Not into the whole bondage thing, so all the leather was a bit much.

I have only seen two black metal bands live. I agree Dark Funeral really sucked. The vocals were terrible and there guitarist was trying to look all evil wearing this bondage thing on his chest but his beer belly was hanging out. It was amusing. The other band I saw was Dimmu Borgir and show was BAD ASS! I cant wait to see them again.

same shit, i saw Dimmu live at the Hard Rock with Cryptopsy and they were the fucking shit, hope they come back here soon. otherwise Dark Funeral isn't black metal, so it shouldn't be listed here.

The only black metal band I saw live is Marduk and they were fucking great!
I almost saw Immortal(one of my 4 favorite bands) but the concert was

to tell you the truth i can't really classify them either, problem is they're not black metal. whatever else you want to call them fine, but black metal (in my humble oppinion) is a very strict and defined genre.

My mother happens to be one of the biggest religious people i know.....and she let me go see "Deeds of Flesh" and "Severe Torture", also "Morbid Angel" and some other cool bands.

Well actually....she didn't really "let" me go.....i just said "yeah i'm going to a concert".

I can relate... I agree with memnoch, your mom won't be quite as protective in a few years.

But if you REALLY wanted to see Dark Funeral, just buy the ticket, and scratch out a few letters on the ticket. Say "hey mom, I'm going to a show," and hand her the ticket for a second, to let her see it. Instead of the ticket saying:

"Dark Funeral"

it'd say

" ark Fun "

and you could say that it's a play called "Ark Fun," which is a comedy about the Bible, and Noah's Arc.

Or just wait till you're 18-19....well, i guess since it's the states, 21. I was prevented from going to many metal concerts cause i wasn't the drinking age (few years back)....but now that i am, i'm considered an adult and my mother can't say shit...although she never did.

THE KOVENANT by far is the worst blackmetal act!!! If it is even correct to call those fags blackmetal. Hell Hammer is a legendary drummer, but he fucken sucked when I saw him, the lead singer ripped apart a bible and then finally burned it when I shouted the suggestion. They must have gone through a 32-pack of bottered waters, here in Southern California thats a crime you know(just kidding). Anyway, they are the perfect example of a band that is absolute shit, the guitar "solos" were fucken lame and half assed sounding and everyone in the band tries to be like marylin manson. Talk about a blackmetal band selling out.

I just meant once you legally become an adult, she won't have a say in whatever you do (except for what goes on in her house).

I was 18 and left with a buddy on a trip about 8 hours away to see Slayer last summer. We found a hotel (we were very lucky.....not supposed to rent to underage, hehe) and stayed there afterwards cause it ended around 12am. But my parents trusted me...although i still had to call the second i got there.

Depends how your parents view your maturity too. If you're 17 but act like you're still 13, then i doubt they'll let you go. But if you act very responsibly and like the adult you will soon become, then they should trust you enough to go to concerts.

It's not a misconception. It's true. But they ask about that stuff not because their neurotic per say, but b/c they are your parents. If they let you go anywhere without questioning you, then they would be shitty parents. :)

wannabe you're a fucking moron. it's a misconseption. you know why? because every person in this shithole world is different. that means, your parents could be, and memnoch's don't have to neceserally be neurotic. and i'm fucking 16 i've been going to concerts eveyr 2 days ever since summer started and my mom's just happy im having fun. she cares about me too, and that's why i have to be home at a certain time, but i can go. just because my parents let me go to every single concert i want to doesn't mean they don't care, it means that they trust that i act like a mature individual who can take care of himself. you obviously can't, therefor your mom won't trust you.

Obviously from your own post, your mom makes sure you have restrictions, which falls into the category of what I'm talking about. My mom is a little more caring I'd say, than you think. I remember going to this pseudo-black metal band concert here in Switzerland , the band name was Lost Sphere Project and well they really sucked , they had skater clothes and their music was pathetic , the guy didnt sing he just screamed his ass off like a woman.

MArduk sound so different when they play live its amazing. Oh and how is dark funeral shitty black metal?

I´ve never seen a black metal band suck live.... but the first time I saw them i didn´t like Marduk, but that was more because I didn´t know much of them back then. Now they are one of my favourite bands and I have seen them 3 times now!

They didnt sound horrible or anything but legions voice is so different from studio version... It is not as powerful and not really deep.

I must say that Hreidmarr from Anorexia Nervosa doesent change his voice when him and his band play live. I saw them at monthey (switzerland) and it was fucking excellent.

I went to Cathdral's concert last night and they really sucked. Many people here in switzerland dont understand english so basically the crowd was flicking em off all the time. And yes , they do suck live...

I'm gonna say Immortal. I'm an Immortal fan, but they're pretty awful in concert, IMO.Oh man... I have a 45 mins live video (Montreal, 2002) and I can guarantee you, that gig is fucking great.

at this local club there was this band called Satanic Blood -> they didnt rehears bacause not-rehearsing seemed to be cult, it was 50 minutes of blasts and screaming.

they threw with maggots and dead rats though.

Haha, that reminds me when I was 14 and I went to this local death show with a bunch of kids 5-6 years older then me, came back at 2 in the morning (when i was supposed to come back at 11), and then she found out that the kid driving, that she didnt even know him. when i got home my parents were still awake and waiting for me, they were so pissed they almost shaved my head..... man that was a great night....

Well, It would be arrogant to call a band the worst live act, since you offcoarse have to see a lot of different gigs from the same band. Even the best bands have shitty gigs now and then.

And crowds have a huge impact on the band onstage. Maybe not musicly, but otherwise...

I don't like Black Metal very much so I don't go to the shows.

However once Dark Funeral opened for some band and they sucked so badly I actually felt sorry for them. Like no body went in the pit...in fact the only time people went up to the front was when Dark Funeral's siger says "Ok, this is the last one for tonight."

During the second opening band. Dark Funeral came into the bar/resurant behind the crowd where my friends and I where. My god, they did'nt even change their getup. And the singer was holding his arms crossed just to show off his finger rings. Then he was hitting on this girl and first thing she says is "Read the back of my shit jackass" Which read "NO GAY BLACK METAL." LOL The singer looked like he was going to cry and my friends and I are laughing our asses off.

Oh and my friend said seeing Dimmu Borgir was an experience but he said "It was a little too perfect. It sounded the same on the CD." Now mabey they are just a damn good band live but but when a band sounds the exact same as a compact disc it get's a little fishy.
