The wrong vocal style

my singer just quit, and he was the only metal singer in my area. So since I did back up i am the new singer, but I can only do stuff like three inches of blood (no one in my band likes that too much)and would like to get deeper and longer lasting screems and clean vocals. Any tips, techniques, etc.
