Very high BM shrieking?

Alright, nobody I know can shriek or teach me to, so here is some background:

I'm female, most of you know.
I can project my voice very well, I'm loud so that's good.
I have a low alto voice.
I tried full on growling and I got th pitch and crap but I started coughing severely and I have ither people to do low growling so I don't want to do it.
I have no idea on how to shriek.

So, where do I start? I'm not looking for the Dani Filth vocs, something more like Abbath of Immortal on helium or a BM Angela Gussow but more kickass. Just give me some tips please, because I'm screwed, my throat starts to hurt and I cough very badly but otherwise I can kinda do it...

Well, if anyone has ever jumped out from behind a wall to scare you, or when you get into a fight and you screamed, it's kinda like that-only more evil.:p

thats how you WANT to sound, like a parrot being squashed to death. that's how i sound like when singing burzum songs (except his voice tends to crack like a 12 year old boy handling his first pornographic magazine on top of the actual screeching.)

anyway, try not warming up or anything. like i've said before, try syllables:

for brutal death metal you want to get a phlegmy "ORRRRR RRRR" kind of sound. for traditional black metal, you need an "AAAAAH" kind of sound. it's hard to explain but here goes:

tense your jaw. really, really tightly. don't "choke" like the second vocalist from the berzerker, that will damage your throat faster than a speeding snail. then growl "errrr." just growl a few random syllables until you get the hang of it. it does take a while for your throat to build up, so it's best you do it right to avoid throat damage. give us a yell if that hasn't helped. which it probably hasn't.

so true!! it took me about 5 listens to remember that it was tom screaming, not the intro to an early guitar solo :p

OMG HUG HUG ANDREW! It kinda works... I was hopeless before, like totally hopeless, but this works and my throat is also very moist from eating chocolate eclairs, so it's great! I really needed to learn to shriek so I could use it for my one man band thingy, THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN.

EDIT: I guess it's kinda ok for a first... It sounded so much better from inside my head than on tape though... I sound like a fucking kid because of my accent :(

I'm a Russtralian queenslander and I learnt english by watching american cartoons. It's the most fucker up accent EVER.

mine is probably worse...it's an attempted bogan accent with random kiwi parts and my voice squeaks sometimes.
