$6.10 USD.
Although I still don't have a job. I made like 10-20/hour today with my uncle, so a nice "paycheck" (cash, no tax -|-) is on its way. :D
uuhh £3.60 for 16+ or £3.80 for 18+ i think,
If your over 18 its $6.50, under 18 its $5.50 training wage if $4.75 I think.. they can only pay training wage for two weeks.

yeah that sounds about right. just started another job today, doing clean-up duties at a garage, $10 an hour :)
For my first job, I started at $6.23 AUD. I was 16 at the time. It is equivalent to $4.94 US (current conversion), but at the time the US dollar was stronger, It was probably more like US $4 an hour. So stop whining.

I think for 21 and above it's £4.50. When I worked in a bar a couple of years ago it was £4.20 but the government have recently raised it to £4.50.

Yeah, that is quite expensive, in local pubs at least. It's £1.80 for a pint in my local but this can go up to £2.50 in city centre bars. Some bars even have the audacity to charge £3.00 but they are few and far between. I'd say the average was about £2.40 in the city centre, which I am loathed to pay considering it's a lot cheaper at my local.
I'm surprised that bar workers are paid more than minimum wage, even down south. I suppose the cost of living is higher so they have to offer higher rates or else fail to attract staff.

not like that, but there are reasons for not working so early (child labor laws) but its not a bad idea if you know what youre doing and you need the cash
It got my lazy ass off the couch.. plus I attended a work class which let me leave school early for work, and gave me TWO credit for a one period class... plus alot of field trips and food. :D

Technically, it's not 15, its 14 and 9 months. Why? I have no idea.
EDIT: Oh, you meant working age! oops! Same age for that too.

i think its 6.15$ for this little patch of dirt called rhode island, i make like 8.50 doing shipping and recieving, my boss says if i show up on time it may be raised .50cents,the whole carrot on a string before the mule routine. i heard somewhere that in america you have to be making above 12-13.00$ to be above the poverty line estimate, roughly. rhode island is like 46th on the misery index of last year, everyones kinda broke, rent is skyrocketing here for some reason, almost as bad as the peoples republic of boston
im convinced that the cheapest pint of beer in america is in austin, texas. they got 1$ pbr nights and shit and they dont have open container laws, austin also probably has the most bars per capita in america,6th street alone has more than the state of rhode island and utah combined

ah...but cigs can only kill you if you smoke them.
theres some bitch that says the warning (which says "may cause cancer") isnt good enough. she wants it to say WILL cause cancer........which is not always true. slut carrot.
anyway....is the min. wage of waiters lower everywhere?
yeah i think, becuase your main pay is suposed to be tips. if you suck at wating you really shouldnt cuz there'e no money.
low-tech
2005-03-03, 01:52
it depends on the state your in, and if the place does a pool on tips, ive cooked in many restaurants in many states and it varies greatly
usually the waiter gets like 3 an hour, but will make a huge profit in tips. they make good money usually and have the least responsibility, to this day i order food at the bar of most joints, the bartender is more likely to tip out cooks, thats empathy to the person cooking my food, as ive been in situations seeing absolutely dipshit waiters and waitresses walk away on a saturday night with the amount of my entire paycheck in tips alone, serving my food.
sorry to rant, that rant thread got closed and that question touched a nerve
