I have read almost all the posts about growling/screaming...i want to know how to growl like Dead , or the Acheron tipe growl...i heard that they use effects. But i`d like to know if it`s possible without any and without eating or drinking stuff like i read in other posts. I`m from Romania , please excuse the poor English :D
O , and when i sing (i sing most of the day for practice) it sounds good , but if i have a cold , sounds like shit and i start coughing after a minute :))

There is a thread for effects here too if you look a little down. It is not possible to sound exactly like someone anyways so you're screwed there, and if you don't eat or drink normal food you'll be unhealthy. There are no "magic beans" that'll make you sing good.

hey bro, we got plenty in common
i haven't heard dead's vocals or acheron, i'm assuming they have standard-ish harsh black metal vocals? here is what i do, hope you pick up on what i do:
i don't know how experienced or developed in vocals you are but, here goes.
firstly, whisper the lyrics, hiss them. like death metal has accents on the pronounciation of "er" and "or" and "rr" and so on, black usually has the "H" heavily used. once you think you've perfected your whispering technique, then you are ready to growl. just growl simple stuff like "har" and "her", then once you've got that, then you're a black metal singer.
by the way, it's normal to sound like shit when you have a cold :p finntroll rules.

It's also a bad idea to sing/growl when you have a cold. Singing not so much, but growling, yes.
Anyways. Yea I made a post a bout effects and voice mods, should be a little lower on the page, or the next. There's a lot of things you can use to get your sound, but in the end YOU make the sound, the effects only help to shape it, but your voice is a foundation. So like I said before, if you don't have what it takes to growl like you want, or you just can't do it, effects wont help at all. Effects are like enhancements to furnish your growl/singing, not make it.
