They can actually play. They used to just be about the stage show, then they started to incorporate real music into that stage show.

Gwar kicks ass! They put on the best show, with bringing all those people dressed up as people and cutting their heads off and tearing out their intestines. Its awesome. And from what I have heard from their new album, they have become more metaler. :lhdevil:

Gwar is a very, very, very silly band.
This is a good thing. When I'm in the mood.
They're a bit of a novelty. I've got some pics of them though, funny as all hell.

They're pretty cool, always good for a laugh or two.
I have always thought that Dave Brockie had an incredible voice, some of the shit he does with his voice is very cool.
I really dug their first 3 albums, but not too crazy about their more recent stuff. Everything after the first 3 had maybe one or two cool songs on it, and the rest was just plain crap. I'm sure that constantly changing musicians had more than a little to do with it.
They most definetly do NOT suck. They were pretty cool live, though I did enjoy Dying Fetus more.

Yeh, Dave Brockie has a very unique voice, I love it. I think their more recent two cd's are their best.. their alot heavier and they display their actual talent, War Party even discusses political issues.
They've had the same lineup for awhile.. well except for Flattus (Seems like their's a new one everyday)

"Shock Rock" I supposed, but they really mix it up, the last two cd's have been pretty heavey though.

im not saying they suck, so i voted no. but they definately arnt my cup of tea/they are stupid. and i generally dont like "joke" bands, they seem to make a mockery of music. and that will never hold any of my respect

i dont like there music very much, but they dont suck.. i laughed when i seen a baby being thrown at the singer, in the War Party video.
Yes Gwar does suck. More because of their gimmick than the music. Gimmicks are the worst idea to ever come to music and I hate them (especially the goth gimmick)

i resent the gimmick comment coz i live near the design school members of gwar studied at, they studied horror movie gore make-up, props and techniques to produce cinematic laceractions,dismemberment, zombie,mutant outfits,costums etc. i know many RISD students who study,teach or had studied there and it's hard work,very hard to get in that school, very compettitive enviorment etc. most american horror movies you see has a few exRISD students there in the mix as it is the leading art/design school in the US. so yeah they spend an incredible amount of time preparing a show like that with skills they learned. i also know a few guys who rodied for them and ex-members who say that they are cool people and yes it is a joke obviously.....i never really took the black metal dudes with corpse paint seriously either, even if they have burned churches down, i dont take manowar seriously either, niether the gore/grind stuff coz its all image and "costume" culture which in itself is not entirely bad as long as you dont take it to seriously and become a serial killer or something
