It came to Ibanez in the end as I think they give the most bang for your buck. The model is RG2620QMSP in the RG Prestige Series. Its got the Edge Pro tremolo, DiMarzio/IBZ pickups and a quilted maple top. The pictures arent very good and as always it looks better in real life. It plays like an absolute dream and until now I have been playing it for 3 hours straight. There were some problems getting it in tune when I got it, but after some yanking and frowning I got it right. Enjoy the pics!

Nice!! that's one sexy looking RG!

*rubs his rg* nice going man, I allways prefered the look of that exact model (wait untill you see my Ran, same idea of finish and shit)

enjoy it man, it's a great guitar and I should know, I played it for an hour myself to try out a triple recto :)

Thanks dude.

I think this guitar is going to inspire me to practice and play unlike old Mr. Warlock. I traded my old guitar + old amp with some cash in between for this one. The Warlock always gave me problems, the bridge was all fucked up and the pickups, well lets not talk about those.

This beauty has an awesome sound man, even with my distortion pedal its clear and raw! When playing clean in neck position, its fat I'll tell you and the bridge p/up is nice and trebly. I am saving some cash at the moment and im considering either a Pod, a JMP-1 or some sort of preamp to get a wider range of tones. But even with just my amp and pedal its a monster!

I got it for about a grand + my old stuff. That may sound expensive in american ears but its cheap around here.

EDIT: There were some cool dudes there that my ol' man knows and they gave me lots of tips, theyve been in the blues scene a couple of years and I think its partly that that gave me a better price, if I had come over there by my self and they hadnt been there, it wouldve been a bit more expensive.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeenh.

wrong. they're dimarzio's basically. they're pretty damn good quality for stock pickups if you like dimarzio's that is. beeing the SD man you are, you'de probably get a jazz/jb setup?

I like the pickups, neck pickup is very full and thick when playing cleans and the bridge has alot of clarity when playing with high gain. If I did decide to change the pickups it wont be in the near future.

For stock yeh their good i guess...

but nothing great they will do until he gets some real Dimarzio's all the IBZ pickups ive played are muddy as hell.

I have Dimarzio's on my RG7620 and I like em, i cna go either way as long as its not an EMG :D

Hehe, what's this with you hating emg's ;) with a nice tube amp they sound neat for tight-ass shit. Ok, you need a great tube amp to make the sterile bit go away...

those ibz's used to be ghostbuild by dimarzio, like on the older rg's, they're straight from the dimarzio factory with a different label on them (those where the ibz/USA C2/F2/F1 etc. pu's) nowadays it's different though.

a friend of mine has an RG7620 too (setdown on this forum, hasn't been around) but its pretty muddy too, he was considering 707's. what sd's have you got in it?

BLS
2004-12-04, 18:14
They stock RG7620 SUCK!! Their Dimarzio "New 7's"
ye their real dimarzios... and really muddy.

I dont have SD's in my 7620 i have Dimarzio's.

Evolution in the Bridge, Air Norton in the neck.

I just bought another RG7620 which already has a 707 installed in it, ill get back to you on what i think. Ill try to be as unbiased as possible.

you bought one for backup?

I agree on the stock pickups sucking on RG7620's. muddy as hell and no tone definetion (making the b string sound like ass..)

That was a nice 7620, who knows I might become an all time Ibanez player, but still ESP, Ran and those make some kickass geetars
