Ive been looking a lot of guitars. This guitar (ltd ec-400) has a mahagony body and emg 81s. It seems to be pretty similar to the ec-1000 and not that far from the esp eclipses. In the past, the more I've spent on a guitar, the more I'm disapointed because I expect an expensive guitar to be perfect but it doent seem to be. What does everyone think about the ltd ec-400? Thanks.

EC-400 is a great guitar. I see no good (enough) reason to pay all that extra money for a deluxe. But that's just me, modest and shit =D
If one is going for a deluxe, why won't he just save some more money for a real ESP?

Anyway, our school has the Archtop (EC-400AT) model (few weeks old by now) and it's absolutely great. It feels good, nice to play, and you can get a bunch of good sounds with it (it has a S-D JB/'59 set). Stays neatly in tune, and looks good. It's a bit (I mean extremely little!) top-heavy, but you probably won't even notice it while playing it.

The S-D set is better if you're interested in clean sounds too, but if distortion and metalsound is what you're looking for, get the EMG version (it absolutely slays S-D in distortion IMO).

Generally Ltd 400's are good guitars for the money, you'd definately should go and play them...
