Can anyone here sing and play at the same time? I got this weird problem....I can easily sing OMC's Soul Possessed while playing the lead alone in my room, but today as I was jamming it with this guy as soon as I started the verse I started to laugh.:p HahaWTF?! I couldn't really get over it for like 10minutes but after that I got into the "mad/pissed off" mood and could sing it fine. I just find it embarrasing if I'm in front of some crowd singing this hate music and start smiling or something.....god that would look so stupid. Should I like...kick the shit outta myself before rehersals:rolleyes:...Does anyone else have this problem?

i used to not be able to do it but now i can pretty good if its a trickey riff though ill play it alone for a while till i get it down then i try it with vocals till i can do it

yea...and you can catch him singing the wrong lines, for example on decade of agression during war ensemble he sings the last verse for the second verse

Sounds like you should get lazy. Or study Dave Mustaine. He comes off dead serious singing over riffs tricky enough I wouldn't try singing over them. There are other good examples too, but he comes to mind first.

Also, it's a pretty normal instinct to start cracking up when you're trying to be serious (mostly because of the absurd nature of being serious). I wouldn't worry about it. Work on a tough guy's scowl or something, until it's second nature. Or just smile. It's okay to be happy and enjoying what you're doing. Even in metal. Plus, you can always make your smile look like a deranged serial rapist's without much difficulty, I'm sure.
